Stefan Windscheif (born September 10, 1987 in Iserlohn ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career hall

Since his father played volleyball at TuS Iserlohn , twelve-year-old Stefan decided to do the same sport at the same club. Later the Iserlohner moved to the top division TV Hörde . From the 2006/07 season, the outside and diagonal attacker played for the second division club VV Humann Essen . In 2011 he was hired by league competitor TSG Solingen Volleys .

Career Beach

In 2001 Stefan Windscheif played his first beach volleyball tournament . He and his long-time partner Jonathan Erdmann reached the semi-finals at the U18 European Championship in 2004. The two of them were able to confirm this result a year later at the U19 World Championship. In 2006 the two German beach volleyball European champions of the U20s in Ankaran in Slovenia and in the coming year they won the bronze medal at the U21 World Cup. In 2008 Windscheif / Erdmann came fourth at the U23 European Championships. In the following year, the two competed for the first time together internationally in the adult sector and achieved ninth place at the FIVB tournaments in Shanghai and even seventh place in Rome . The collaboration between the two successful beach volleyball players ended with 17th place in Mysłowice in Poland . While Jonathan Erdmann has since formed a duo with Kay Matysik , Stefan Windscheif first played a few FIVB tournaments with Stefan Uhmann before he repeated his European championship triumph, this time in the U23 with Alexander Walkenhorst .

Sebastian Dollinger then became Stefan Windscheif's partner. The two had already played together for the first time at the end of 2008, were actually eliminated in qualification at the FIVB tournament in Manama , but benefited as a " lucky loser " from the cancellation of some teams and achieved their greatest success so far with the bronze medal. This was followed by a ninth place in the next tournament in Sanya , and in 2009 the two improved to 7th place in the same place.

2010

In the beginning things didn't go so well, Windscheif / Dollinger only managed to place in the top eight at the fifth tournament of the year in Moscow . With fifth place, the two Germans achieved their second-best result ever at an FIVB adult tournament. After the end in Gstaad at the end of the group phase, despite a better set ratio and ball quotient compared to an opponent, it took until the penultimate tournament of the world series before the athletes of the Hamburg sports club were able to place themselves in the front field again. In Mariehamn , the two Germans finished seventh after four wins and two defeats. The previous weekend, after losing in the quarter-finals to the Austrian silver medalists Clemens Doppler and Matthias Mellitzer, they finished ninth at the European Championships in Berlin. Sebastian Dollinger and Stefan Windscheif finished fourth at the German championships on Timmendorfer Strand .

2011

At the first tournament of the year of the FIVB Tour in Brasilia , the native Iserlohner and his partner could not win. Things went a little better in Shanghai with 17th place and in Prague with thirteenth place in the overall ranking. After being eliminated from qualifying at the Grand Slam in Beijing , the two athletes from the Hamburg sports club reached the main round at the World Championships in Rome with one defeat against Ferramenta / Pedro from Brazil and two wins against the Russians Barsuk / Yutvalin and the Ingrosso twins from Italy. After a victory over the Swiss Gabathuler / Schnider , the two Germans then narrowly failed with 21:23 in the third set against the later vice world champions Ricardo / Márcio Araújo and finished ninth. Windscheif / Dollinger were able to achieve this placement again in Moscow . In the other tournaments they either lost in the German qualifying against Böckermann / Urbatzka ( Gstaad and Stare Jablonki ) or failed in the qualification ( Stavanger and Klagenfurt ). At the Åland Open , Windscheif / Dollinger qualified directly for the main field and finished in seventeenth place. The following weekend, Hamburg took part in the German championships . They defeated Huth / Lüdike , Kaczmarek / Walkenhorst, Brink / Reckermann and in the semifinals Klemperer / Koreng . In the second duel with the reigning European champions Brink and Reckermann, Stefan Windscheif and Sebastian Dollinger were defeated and thus became German runners-up.

2012

In 2012 Dollinger / Windscheif were third at the German Championships after several ninth places in the FIVB World Tour .

2013

Dollinger / Windscheif achieved fifth place at the European Championships in Klagenfurt . At the German Championships they came third again. Then the two separated.

2014-2016

From 2014 Windscheif played again with his former U23 partner Alexander Walkenhorst . After disappointing results at the World Championships in the Netherlands and at the European Championships in Klagenfurt , Walkenhorst and Windscheif separated again in August 2015. Then Windscheif played alongside Sebastian Fuchs until July 2016 .

Stefan Windscheif joined the Bundeswehr in October 2007 and is now a corporal. In addition, the "Marder" studies economics at the Fern-Uni Hagen . His younger brother Tobias plays in the upper league for TuS Iserlohn.
