FIVB World Tour 2012 men

The men's FIVB World Tour 2012 consisted of eleven beach volleyball tournaments, eight of which were held as a grand slam and three as an open .

Tournaments

The series began on April 17th in Brasília . There were other Open in Mysłowice and Prague . Shanghai , Beijing , Moscow , Rome , Gstaad , Berlin , Klagenfurt and Stare Jabłonki hosted the Grand Slams. Another event in Québec has been canceled. Likewise, the Agadir Open, originally planned as the last tournament of the year, did not take place in Morocco. Therefore, the beach series ended on August 19th in Poland.

Brasilia Open (April 17th to 22nd)

Walkenhorst and Kaczmarek lost their first game in the qualification , while Kunert / Petutschnig, who finished seventeenth in the final ranking, and Seidl / Huber , who, like the Germans Stefan Windscheif and Sebastian Dollinger , reached the main field of three pairs from Austria , made it to thirteenth Fought for rank. The only Swiss Martin Laciga and Jonas Weingart lost their first two games. Jonathan Erdmann and Kay Matysik , who won their first three matches and ended up in fifth place, did better . Silesia Open in Myslowice (April 24th to 29th)

Of the three German and four Austrian couples who started in the qualification, only Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst from the Alpine republic reached the main round in Poland. While the Austrians were able to secure seventh place, the only remaining Germans David Klemperer and Eric Koreng as well as the Swiss Heuscher / Bellaguarda had to be content with a shared 25th place after two defeats in their first two games. Their compatriots Heyer / Chevallier did a little better, for whom one victory was enough for seventeenth place in the overall standings. In the semifinals, Lupo / Nicolai lost to the Brazilians Ricardo / Cunha and their compatriots Márcio Araújo / Pedro defeated Herrera / Gavira. Grand Slam in Shanghai (May 1-6)

While Dollinger / Windscheif and Erdmann / Matysik qualified as group first for the second round, Klemperer / Koreng had to take the detour via the first main round as the third of their pool. All three teams were then eliminated. Huber / Seidl survived the preliminary battle of two Austrian couples, but could not win a game in their pool. The Swiss M.-Laciga / Weingart failed in the second qualifying round. Heuscher / Bellaguarda lost second in the group in the first main round, while Heyer / Chevalier and the German duos lost in the second round. In the semifinals there were four couples from the American continent. In both matches, the Americans prevailed against the Brazilians. Pedro and Marcio Araujo then defeated Benjamin and Bruno and secured the bronze medal, while the number one seeded Rogers / Dalhausser remained victorious against Gibb / Rosenthal in the final .

Grand Slam in Beijing (May 8th to 13th)

M. Laciga / Weingart from Switzerland failed in the qualification, while the Austrians Doppler / Horst and the two German couples Dollinger / Windscheif and Klemperer / Koreng reached the main field. The latter, like the Austrians and the Confederates Heuscher / Bellaguarda, did not survive the group phase, while their compatriots Heyer / Chevalier were eliminated in the first main round. For Dollinger / Windscheif the last sixteen was the end of the line, while Erdmann / Matysik, who qualified directly for the main competition, lost in the quarter-finals to Nicolai / Lupo. The Italians then defeated the reigning Brazilian world champions and received the silver medal after losing in the final against the Dutch Numbersdor / Schuil. Third place went to Alison / Emanuel with a victory over the Americans Gibb / Rosenthal.

Prague Open (May 22-27)

After their victories in the German Country Quota over Backhaus / Westphal and Kaczmarek-Walkenhorst, who had previously eliminated A.Dollinger / Stiel, Böckermann / Urbatzka failed in the third qualifying round to M.-Laciga / Weingart. Like Heyer / Chevalier, the Swiss lost their first main round match, but, unlike their compatriots, were able to win the following match. M. Laciga / Weingart, like the German couples Erdmann / Matysik and Klemperer / Koreng, took 17th place in the final accounts. The best Germans this time were Dollinger / Windscheif, who were defeated by Ricardo / Cunha in the next round. The Brazilians also won their next 5 games and became winners of the Czech Open, despite losing their very first game. The silver medal went to Emanuel / Alison, they had defeated Pedro and Marcio Araujo in the semi-finals. Grand Slam in Moscow (June 7th to 12th)

While the Austrians Doppler / Horst lost their second game, both Windscheif / Dollinger and the two Swiss pairs M. Laciga / Weingart and Heyer / Chevalier were able to hold their own in the qualification. The latter did not get beyond the pool round, for M. Laciga / Weingart and Heuscher / Bellaguarda the end came in the first main round. In addition to Dollinger / Windscheif, Klemperer / Koreng also made it into the second round. Erdmann / Matysik, who only lost to Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann in the quarterfinals, were even more successful. The best German couple then lost to Emanuel / Alison and in the game for third place Ricardo / Cunha. Grand Slam in Rome (June 13th to 17th)

Klemperer / Koreng had to say goodbye to the Italian capital after their first game. Müllner / Wutzl from Austria and for the third time in a row M. Laciga / Weingart survived the qualification. Both couples as well as the two other Swiss duos and the three remaining German teams prevailed in the group stage. While the Austrians and the Swiss qualifiers as well as Brink / Reckermann fell out in the first main round, Windscheif / Dollinger made it to the round of 16. Heuscher / Bellaguarda met in the round of the last eight teams on Heyer / Chevallier, who reached the semi-finals due to an injury to their compatriots. Grand Slam in Gstaad (July 3rd to 8th)

The Germans Böckermann / Urbatzka, the Austrians Hupfer / Leeb and the Swiss Sutter / Sutter were eliminated in the qualification, while their compatriots Gabathuler / Gerson qualified for the main field. However, they failed in the pool round, although they were able to defeat Klemperer / Koreng, as they were defeated by Dollinger / Windscheif in a direct comparison. Grand Slam in Berlin (July 10th to 14th)

The Berlin Grand Slam took place for the first time in the Waldbühne . Of the three German pairs who competed in the qualification, Fuchs / Lüdike, Kaczmarek / Walkenhorst and Böckermann / Urbatzka, only the latter made it into the main field. The Austrians fared even worse. The four started duos Hupfer / Leeb, Kunert / Petutschnig, Müllner / Wutzl and Huber / Seidl had to travel home after the qualification as did the Swiss M. Laciga / Weingart, while their compatriots Heuscher / Bellaguarda finished the tournament without a win in the group stage . Although they were able to beat the four seeded Benjamin / Bruno, Dollinger / Windscheif did not survive the pool round either. Grand Slam in Klagenfurt (July 17th to 22nd)

Böckermann / Urbatzka defeated Kaczmarek / Walkenhorst in the country quota, but failed in the second qualifying round like the Swiss Gabathuler / Schnider. Their compatriots R. and A. Mazuri Grand Slam in Stare Jabłonki (August 14th to 19th)

In the Austrian national preliminary decision, Müllner / Wutzl and Huber / Seidl received a bye.
