Evandro Gonçalves Oliveira Júnior (born July 17, 1990 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian beach volleyball player . In 2017 he became world champion with André Loyola Stein in Vienna .

Career

Evandro reached the 25th place with Joalison Laurindo at the U21 World Cup in Alanya in 2010 . In 2012 he formed a duo with the former vice world champion Harley Marques . During their first joint appearance on the FIVB World Tour , Evandro / Harley finished fifth in the Brasília Open. After that she got a 33rd place in Mysłowice and a 25th place at the Prague Open. At the other FIVB tournaments they were subject to the "Country Quota".

In 2013 Evandro formed a new duo with Vitor Felipe . After winning a tournament on the continental tour, Evandro / Felipe finished ninth in the Fuzhou Open. On the World Tour , two fifth places followed at the Grand Slams in Shanghai and Corrientes . At the 2013 World Cup in Stare Jabłonki they came second in the knockout round and reached the quarterfinals, in which they had to admit defeat to the Germans Erdmann / Matysik . After a 17th place in Gstaad and a ninth place in Long Beach , Evandro / Felipe won the Grand Slam in Berlin in the final against the Russians Krassilnikow / Semjonow . In Moscow Evandro played with Emanuel Rego and lost the final against the Latvian duo Samoilovs / Šmēdiņš . After a weaker tournament in São Paulo with Felipe, Evandro played again with Emanuel in Xiamen and came in fifth. On the World Tour 2014 Evandro / Felipe finished ninth in Shanghai and fifth in Moscow. They achieved further top ten results at the Grand Slams in Gstaad, Long Beach and São Paulo.

From 2015 Evandro played with Pedro Solberg Salgado . After two national tournament victories in Fortaleza and Recife , Evandro / Pedro reached the final against the Spaniards Herrera / Gavira in their first joint appearance on the 2015 World Tour , the Grand Slam in Moscow . Then they were fifth in the Poreč Major and then won the Major tournament in Stavanger in the final against Poland Łosiak / Kantor . In Saint Petersburg , they took ninth place. At the World Cup in the Netherlands they came third in the group, but then reached the semi-finals with three tiebreak victories in a row; after a 1: 2 against the local duo Zahldor / Varenhorst they won the bronze game against the US duo Lucena / Brunner . Then she was fifth in the Gstaad Major and ninth four times in the following FIVB tournaments. At the World Tour Final in Fort Lauderdale they prevailed in the game for third place against the Dutch Brouwer / Meeuwsen .

At the beginning of 2016 Evandro / Felipe reached the finals of the Maceió Open and the Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro , in which they had to admit defeat to the Americans Dalhausser / Lucena and the Poles Łosiak / Kantor. They finished ninth in Fortaleza, Moscow and Hamburg and fifth in Olsztyn and Poreč. Then they won the Gstaad Major with a final victory against Dalhausser / Lucena. For the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , they were set as representatives of the host nation. In the preliminary round they won only one of three games, but reached the second round in the group, which they lost to the Russians Ljamin / Barsuk , which they finished the tournament in ninth place. At the Grand Slam in Long Beach, they celebrated another final victory against Dalhausser / Lucena. They were also in the final at the World Tour Final in Toronto , but lost to their compatriots, the new Olympic champions Alison / Bruno . After that, they played a few more national tournaments before they parted ways.

In 2017 Evandro formed a new duo with André Loyola Stein and with him reached the final of the five-star tournament in Fort Lauderdale on the World Tour , which was won by their countrymen Álvaro / Saymon . Subsequently, Evandro / André Loyola remained successful. Only in Moscow did they miss the top ten, while they finished ninth in three tournaments and were again defeated by Álvaro / Saymon in the game for bronze in Gstaad (five stars). At the World Championships in Vienna , they came into the knockout phase as the best of three tied teams in their group; there they reached the final with just one more set loss and became world champions with a win against the Austrians Doppler / Horst . At the World Tour Final in Hamburg Evandro / André Loyola took second place.

From June to August 2018 Evandro played again with Vitor Felipe. 2019 Olympic champion Bruno Schmidt is his partner.
