Pedro Solberg Salgado (born March 27, 1986 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian beach volleyball player .

Career

Pedro and three different partners won the U18 in 2002 and the U21 World Championship in beach volleyball in 2003 and 2006. In the same year he started with Roberto Lopez in several FIVB tournaments with a fourth place as the best result. In the following two years, Pedro Salgado and his new partner Harley Marques achieved nine tournament victories, both of which were named 2008 FIVB Tour Champion and Team of the Year.

In 2009 Salgado changed teams several times, won three silver medals with his first partner at an FIVB tournament Pedro Cunha and won with Benjamin at the Open in Stare Jablonski. Two fourth places with Ricardo rounded off the year.

2010

After a fifth place with Ricardo Santos at the Brasilia Open, Pedro decided to work again with Harley, his partner from the successful years 2007 and 2008. The two immediately won the next tournament in Shanghai , but were the only other ones at the following events Placement in the front field a fifth place at the Grand Slam in Moscow . After two ninth places in Stavanger and Gstaad, a seventeenth place in Klagenfurt and another fifth place in Stare Jablonki , Salgado / Marques won the silver medal in Kristiansand . They defeated their fellow countrymen Benjamin / Bruno and Emanuel / Alison and lost in the final against the Americans Rogers / Dalhausser . At the end of the season, Pedro / Harley finished ninth in Åland and The Hague.

2011

At the first four events of the year Salgado initially played with Cunha, the best result was a fourth place in Prague . With his new partner Ferramenta , Pedro reached fifth place at the fifth event of the season, the World Cup in Rome . The two Brazilians finished 25th in Stavanger and ninth in Gstaad. Salgado was then temporarily suspended on suspicion of doping. The suspension was lifted in mid-August due to a time delay in the tests that the athlete was not responsible for. Pedro was finally rehabilitated on October 25th, as the WADA- accredited laboratory in Cologne was able to clear him of all suspicions. Previously Salgado failed at the tournament in Finland with Ferramenta in the country quota to Harley / Thiago, in The Hague the South Americans finished ninth, while they were able to secure bronze in Morocco .

2012

This season Pedro and Márcio Araújo formed a beach duo. At the opening tournament in their home country, the two Brazilians finished ninth. Things went better in Myslowice when they reached the end of the game and in Shanghai , where the South Americans won bronze. After a ninth place in Beijing, participation in the semi-finals in Prague and two further ninth places in Moscow and Rome, Pedro and Márcio Araújo failed in the country quota in Gstaad because of Pedro's last year's partner Ferramenta and Thiago . In Berlin , Salgado and Araújo finished fifth. In Austria they reached their second final in 2012, losing to the Dutch Numbersdor / Schuil . At the end of the year the South Americans finished 25th in Poland.

family

Pedro's mother Isabel Salgado was a successful beach volleyball player herself and won an FIVB tournament in Miami in 1994 . Pedro's siblings are Bernardo, Pilar, Celina as well as Maria-Clara and Carolina , who have been participating in the World Tour since 2005 and won their first gold medal in Mysłowice in 2008 .
