Harley Marques Silva (born July 6, 1975 in Brasília ) is a Brazilian beach volleyball player and runner-up world champion.

Career

From 1997 to 2001 Harley only played a total of three FIVB tournaments. The 2001 tournament he played with Rogério Ferreira , with whom he achieved his first victory in the first tournament of the season in 2002. Marques was also able to win a gold medal with his new partner Franco Neto in 2003. In 2004 Harley started with Benjamin Insfran , then changed partners twice in the same year, before starting again with Benjamin in 2005 and 2006. The two Brazilians secured the tournament victory in Montreal and also won two silver and three bronze medals. In the following two years the new team, Harley Marques and Pedro Salgado, achieved nine tournament victories, was named FIVB Tour Champion and Team of the Year in 2008, Harley, who won another gold medal with Benjamin in the last tournament of the year, was also the outstanding one in 2008 Tour player.

He was able to defend this title the next year, and the FIVB awarded him the Most Inspirational Award. His partner was now Alison Cerutti , with whom he had already contested two tournaments at the end of 2006. The two South Americans achieved two first, two second and three third places in 2009, and their greatest success so far was the Vice World Championship in Stavanger .

2010

After a 17th place with Fábio Luiz at the Brasilia Open , the successful team from 2007 and 2008, Harley and Pedro, decided to continue working together. The two immediately won the next tournament in Shanghai , but at the following events they were the only other places in the front of the field to take fifth place at the Grand Slam in Moscow . The two Brazilians also reached fifth place in Poland , while at the following event in Kristiansand they reached the final for the second time this season, but were defeated by the ranks first, Rogers and Dalhausser. In the last tournament of the year in The Hague , Harley and Pedro finished ninth, then the two separated again.

2011

With his new partner Thiago Santos Barbosa , Harley finished 25th in the capital of his home country . At the next event in Shanghai they came in 13th. At the World Championships in Rome , the two South Americans finished seventeenth, at the following two tournaments they failed in the country quota to Harley's partner from the previous year, who competed with Ferramenta . Harley Marques and Thiago achieved single-digit final placements in Moscow as fifth and at the Québec Open as seventh.

2012

Harley Marques played alongside Evandro in 2012 . Harley / Evandro's best international result was fifth at the Brasília Open.

2013

In 2013 Harley Marques played with his ex-partner Benjamin Insfran on the German Smart Beach Tour .
