Álvaro Morais Filho (born November 27, 1990 in João Pessoa , Brazil ) is a Brazilian beach volleyball player .

Career

As a junior, Álvaro Filho played alongside Vitor Gonçalves Felipe , with whom he was twice vice world champion in the U21s. In 2011 he formed a duo with Neilton Santos . The best international result was a fourth place at the Québec Open. In 2012 Filho only played once on the international stage alongside Benjamin Insfran . In 2013 Filho played two continental tournaments with Thiago Santos Barbosa . He then formed a new duo with the former Olympic and world champion Ricardo Santos . Ricardo / Filho started the 2013 World Tour with a fourth place at the Fuzhou Open . They then finished third in Shanghai and finished fifth and ninth in the next three Grand Slams. At the World Cup in Stare Jabłonki they reached the first knockout round as second in the group. Without losing a set, they made it to the semi-finals, in which they dethroned the defending champions Alison / Emanuel. In the final, however, they had to admit defeat to the Dutch Brouwer / Meeuwsen . Then they won the Grand Slam in Gstaad . Ricardo / Filho also had several top ten placements on the 2014 World Tour , including a. a second place at the Grand Slam in Stavanger . With Pedro Solberg Salgado Filho won the Grand Slam in Stare Jabłonki in August 2014 .

At the side of Vitor Felipe , Álvaro Filho finished fifth at the 2015 World Cup in the Netherlands as well as at the 2016 Grand Slams in Moscow, Olsztyn and Gstaad . In September 2016 Álvaro Filho formed a new duo with Saymon Barbosa Santos . On the 2017 World Tour , they won the five-star tournament in Fort Lauderdale at the beginning of the year . They then finished fifth in Rio de Janeiro and ninth each in Moscow and The Hague . In Gstaad they reached third place.
