Stare Jabłonki ( German Alt Jablonken ; 1938-1945: Altfinken ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is affiliated with the rural community of Ostróda ( Osterode ) and is located in the Pojezierze Iławskie district .
Geographical location
The village is located about eleven kilometers east of the city of Ostróda ( Osterode ) and 29 kilometers west of the city of Olsztyn ( Allenstein ). At the place is the Jez. Szelag Maly ( Small Schillingsee ).
history
The oldest mention of the village, which was owned by nobles in the 18th century, was made in a document from 1584.
Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Alt Jablonken belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether it would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Alt Jablonken, 160 people voted to stay with East Prussia, Poland did not.
In the 1930s, the German aviation industry used the wood of the pine trees in the surrounding forests as a material for aircraft construction. Many people in the area earned their living from the timber industry. On July 16, 1938, the place was renamed Altfinken. Until 1945 Altfinken belonged to the district Osterode in Administrative district Königsberg the province of East Prussia in the German Empire .
Towards the end of World War II , the Red Army occupied the region. In the spring of 1945, Alt Jablonken was then placed under Polish administration together with part of East Prussia . As far as the people had not fled, they were in the period that followed sold . On November 12, 1946, the place received its current Polish name.

Buildings
The religious center of the place is the Catholic church Matki Boskiej Królowej Polski. It was Protestant until 1945 when it was rededicated.
Sports
Stare Jabłonki gained national recognition as a regular venue for a beach volleyball tournament on the FIVB World Tour . Beach volleyball players have been playing in the small town since 2004. 2013 found the here volleyball World Cup , in 2019 , the Beach Handball European Championships instead. There is also the Szeląg Stare Jabłonki football club .

The “Sielawa Blues” music festival has existed since 1998.
