FIVB World Tour 2013 men

The men's FIVB World Tour 2013 consisted of 14 beach volleyball tournaments, ten of which were held as a grand slam and three as an open . The world championship took place from July 2nd to 7th in Stare Jabłonki in Poland.

Erdmann / Matysik , Dollinger / Windscheif and Brink / Fuchs were all set for the main field . Brink / Fuchs lost to the Russian team Prokopjew / Bogatow in the first round and finished the tournament in 17th place. Erdmann / Matysik failed in the second round to Pedro / Bruno (BRA) and took ninth place. The last German team, Dollinger / Windscheif, lost to the Brazilians Ricardo / Álvaro Filho in the third round and finished fifth.
In the game for third place, the 32 seeded Austrians Huber / Seidl were successful with 2-0 against the Brazilians Ricardo / Álvaro Filho . The American duo Rosenthal / Dalhausser won the final with 2-0 against the Italians Nicolai / Lupo .

Five German duos were registered for Shanghai. The Brink / Fuchs team received a wild card for the main field. Moreover played Erdmann / Matysik , Dollinger / Windscheif and Koreng / Walkenhorst in the 32-ies the main draw. Böckermann / Urbatzka also reached the main field via qualification. All five German teams survived the pool phase, with Erdmann / Matysik finishing first in their pool and thus directly in the second round. Koreng / Walkenhorst lost to the Swiss Chevallier / Kovatsch in the first round and finished in 17th place. In the second round Erdmann / Matysik lost to the Böckermann / Urbatzka team and came in ninth. Dollinger / Windscheif also finished ninth with a 2-0 defeat against the Americans Gibb / Patterson . In the third round Brink / Fuchs lost to Pedro / Bruno , as well as Böckermann / Urbatzka to Poland Kądzioła / Szałankiewicz and finished the tournament in fifth place.

The German duos Brink / Fuchs , Erdmann / Matysik and Dollinger / Windscheif qualified for the main field . Koreng / Walkenhorst reached the peloton via the qualifying round, but were eliminated in the first round against Ricardo / Álvaro Filho and reached 17th place. Brink / Fuchs ended the pool phase with three defeats in 25th place. Erdmann / Matysik ended in the second round with ninth place. Dollinger / Windscheif finished the tournament in fifth place and out in the third round.

The Hague Grand Slam, Netherlands, June 11-16, 2013

Erdmann / Matysik and Dollinger / Windscheif started in the main round . Since Brink was injured on the Smart Beach Tour in Münster, Fuchs competed with Kaczmarek , with whom he played his first beach tournaments in 2003 and won the title at the U18 World Championship in Pattaya, Thailand. Böckermann / Urbatzka came into the main field via the qualifying round, but were eliminated as 25th and last in their pool. Erdmann / Matysik and Fuchs / Kaczmarek lost their games in the first round and finished the tournament in 17th place. The last German duo was eliminated in the second round. They finished ninth.

The three German teams Dollinger / Windscheif , Erdmann / Matysik and Urbatzka / Fuchs competed in the main round . Koreng failed after the separation from Walkenhorst with his new partner Dittelbach in the qualification. The Urbatzka / Fuchs team retired with three defeats in the pool phase. For Dollinger / Windscheif the end came in the first round with a defeat against the Latvian team Šmēdiņš / Samoilovs . Erdmann / Matysik were eliminated in the third round against the Brazilians Pedro / Bruno and came fifth.

The German volleyball association was represented by the four teams Erdmann / Matysik , Dollinger / Windscheif and Böckermann / Urbatzka . Since Brink could not play because of an injury, his partner Fuchs competed again with Kaczmarek . With the exception of the Fuchs / Kaczmarek team, all German teams reached the round of 32. In this round, Dollinger / Windscheif had to admit defeat to the Šmēdiņš / Samoilovs team. In the round of the last 16, Böckermann / Urbatzka were eliminated by Brazilians Alison / Emanuel , who faced the remaining German team Erdmann / Matysik in the game for third place. The Germans won this game and took third place. The Dutch Brouwer / Meeuwsen won the final against Ricardo / Álvaro Filho 2-0.

Brink was again unable to take part in the Grand Slam in Gstaad due to his injury that had lasted for several weeks. His partner Fuchs therefore played with Koreng . Despite a defeat in the qualification, the duo made it into the main round as "Lucky Loser", but were eliminated in the first round. In addition, Erdmann / Matysik , Dollinger / Windscheif and Böckermann / Urbatzka were set for the main round . Böckermann / Urbatzka were eliminated with the last place in their group in the pool phase. For Dollinger / Windscheif the end came in the second round and ninth place. Erdmann / Matysik lost to Pedro / Bruno in the third round and finished the tournament in fifth place. Ricardo / Álvaro Filho won the all-Brazilian final .

In the qualification the Austrians Peter Eglseer and Felix Koraimann prevailed, while his older brother Tobias and his partner Florian Schnetzer failed because of the Swiss brothers Andreas and Roman Sutter. However, both winning teams could not win a game in the pool round. The only German team Böckermann / Urbatzka and Confederates Gabathuler / Weingart reached the first main round with two wins . While the Swiss lost their game, both Germans and Huber / Seidl only ended in the round of 16. The Austrians qualified directly for the round of the last 16 with three wins.
In the semifinals, the Spaniards Herrera / Gavira defeated the Italians Nicolai / Lupo, while Jacob Gibb and Casey Patterson lost to their compatriots Sean Rosenthal and Phil Dalhausser. The Americans also prevailed in the final, while the Italians secured the bronze medal.

Anapa Open, Russia, July 24-28, 2013

The German teams Betzien / Kaczmarek , Dittelbach / Koreng , Flüggen / Walkenhorst and B. Poniewaz / D. Poniewaz were registered in the Open, which took place at the same time as the Grand Slam in Long Beach . The latter failed just like the Austrians Hupfer / Murauer in the qualification, while their compatriots Dressler / Winter reached the pool round. With just one more victory they survived this as well as the Petutschnig / Kunert, who also come from the Alpine republic, with two successes. Dittelbach / Koreng, Flüggen / Walkenhorst and the Swiss Chevallier / Kovatsch reached the main round one with the same number of wins, while Betzien / Kacmarek had to say goodbye to Anapa with a game they won and the Swiss brothers Gabriel and Jonas Kissling had to say goodbye without a win.

Both the remaining German and the Swiss and Austrian duos reached the round of 16, for which Müllner / Wutzl qualified directly. The teams from the Alpine republics were eliminated in this round, while the Germans were also able to make the quarter-finals victorious. In the semifinals Flüggen / Walkenhorst prevailed against Pastuchow / Krassilnikow , while Dittelbach / Koreng lost against Semjonow / Koschkarjow . The two final encounters were decided by the Russian couple.

Five German teams competed in their capital . Dittelbach / Koreng survived the qualification, but ended the tournament without winning the game in the pool round. Böckermann / Urbatzka and Kaczmarek / Fuchs, who each failed in the first final round after winning the group stage, did better. Erdmann / Matysik made it straight to the last sixteen with three successes. There they were subject to the reigning world champions. The best German duo was Dollinger / Windscheif, who lost in the quarter-finals and took fifth place.

The best Austrian beach duo were Huber / Seidl, who were eliminated after having passed the preliminary round. The qualifiers Müller / Wutzl remained without a win in the main field. Eglseer / Koraimann, like the Swiss Gerson / Prawdzic and Chevallier / Kovatsch, did not get beyond the preliminary round. Their compatriots Gabathuler / Weingart managed to win the pool round, and the two athletes lost their first final game.

In the semifinals, Vitor Felipe / Evandro met Tomatis / Ranghieri , while Semjonov / Krassilnikow had to face Herrera / Gavira. The final was reached by the Russians and the Brazilians, who secured the gold medal. The Spaniards had the upper hand in the game for third place
