FIVB World Tour 1993/94 women

The 1993/94 women's FIVB World Tour consisted of three events. The host countries of the beach volleyball tournament series were Brazil , the United States and Chile .

Tournaments

Santos (November 11-14, 1993)

The record number of 16 pairs started at the Brazil Open in the 1993/94 season. Six teams from the host country, two teams each from the United States and the Netherlands and a duo each from Australia , New Zealand , Japan , Cuba , Mexico and the United Kingdom fought for the tournament victory. Karolin Kirby succeeded for the third time in a row, this time with her new partner Liz Masakayan. Behind the US duo, four Brazilian teams finished two to five. Isabel Salgado / Roseli Timm won the silver medal, Adriana Behar / Magda Lima received bronze, Karina Lins e Silva / Sandra Pires took fourth and Monica Rodrigues / Adriana Samuel fifth, ahead of the Australians Natalie Cook and Anita Spring . The prize pool was $ 50,000 and Kirby and Masakayan each received $ 5,500.

Miami (January 15-22, 1994)

There were 16 beach couples at the United States Open. Five teams provided the host country, two teams each from Brazil and Australia. A duo each from New Zealand , Japan , Mexico , Canada , Chile , the United Kingdom and the Netherlands completed the field of participants.

For the first time, the winners were not from the United States. Isabel Barroso Salgado and Roseli Timm won ahead of the Americans Barbra Fontana and Lori Forsythe, while Karolin Kirby and Liz Masakayan won the bronze medal. The Brazilians Monica Rodrigues and Adriana Samuel came fourth ahead of Natalie Cook and Anita Spring from Australia. Of the $ 50,000 in prize money, the winners each received $ 7,500.

La Serena (February 8-11, 1994)

Also at the first Chile Open 16 beach couples started. Three teams each from the host country, Brazil and the United States, two Australian teams and a duo each from the Netherlands, Canada, Cuba, Mexico and Japan competed for victory in South America. Karolin Kirby and Liz Masakayan won their second joint tournament, Isabel Salgado and Roseli Timm took second place ahead of Barbra Fontana and Lori Forsythe. Fourth place went to Gail Castro Kehl and Elaine Roque, Monica Rodrigues / Adriana Samuel came in fifth ahead of the Australians Annette Huygens Tholen and Kerri Pottharst. The best Chilean couple Carolina Coddou Silva and Lia Karmelic shared ninth place with three other teams. As in previous events, the total prize money was $ 50,000, of which the US winners each received $ 5,500.
