Karolyn Kirby (born June 30, 1961 in Brookline , Massachusetts ) is a former American beach volleyball player .

Career

Kirby won the Open tournaments in Almería and Rio de Janeiro with Nancy Reno in 1992/93 and was also FIVB Tour Champion . In 1993 she formed a new duo with Elizabeth Masakayan . Masakayan / Kirby won various WPVA competitions and two FIVB tournaments and became FIVB Tour Champions . In addition, they won the gold medal at the Goodwill Games in Saint Petersburg in 1994 . In the next few years Kirby played with changing partners. At the side of Reno she won the tournament in Carolina (Puerto Rico) . At the first World Cup in Los Angeles , Kirby / Reno finished third after losing to their compatriots Lisa Arce and Holly McPeak in the semi-final . 1998 Kirby played again with Masakayan and achieved various top ten placements. In the following year she was unable to build on the successes in various pairings. The 1999 World Cup in Marseille ended for Kirby with Patty Dodd in 25th place.

In 2004 Karolyn Kirby was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame .
