FIVB Women's World Tour 2014

The women's FIVB World Tour 2014 consisted of 17 beach volleyball tournaments, ten of which were held as a grand slam and seven as an open .

Fuzhou Open, China, April 23-27, 2014

In the main field, the German teams Ludwig / Walkenhorst , Bieneck / Großner , Mersmann / Schneider and the qualifiers Laboreur / Sude played . Then there were Plesiutschnig / Schützenhofer for Austria, which ended with three defeats in 25th place, and Gorianec / Hüberli for Switzerland. Bieneck / Großner lost to the Brazilians Ágatha / Seixas in the first round and finished 17th. The three remaining German couples and the Swiss Goricanec / Hüberli were eliminated in the second round and finished ninth.

The German duos Ludwig / Walkenhorst , Holtwick / Semmler , Borger / Büthe and Bieneck / Großner played in the main field . For Switzerland, the teams Zumkehr / Heidrich and Isabelle Forrer / Anouk Vergé-Dépré competed . Holtwick / Semmler, Forrer / Vergé-Dépré and Zumkehr / Heidrich ended the tournament with the end of the first round and thus 17th place. Borger / Büthe finished the tournament in the third round and fifth place. Ludwig / Walkenhorst won the final against Wang / Yue with 2: 1 (23-21, 19-21, 15-9). With this victory, the German duo won the first gold medal on the World Tour of their career.

Puerto Vallarta Open, Mexico, May 7-11, 2014

For the first time since 2006 the World Tour stopped in Mexico. Since the German national teams took a break, the teams in the second row came here to train. The teams Mersmann / Schneider , Laboureur / Sude , Köhler / Schumacher and Behrens / Seyfferth played for Germany . Mersmann / Schneider lost to the Köhler / Schumacher team in the first round and, like Behrens / Seyfferth, ended up in 17th place. For Köhler / Schumacher the end came with ninth place in round 2 in the game against Laboreur / Sude. Laboreur / Sude made it into the game for third place, but lost to the Chinese Xue / XY Xia.

Moscow Grand Slam, Russia, June 11-15, 2014

The two German national teams Borger / Büthe and Holtwick / Semmler competed in Moscow , while Ludwig / Walkenhorst took a break after winning the bronze medal at the European Championships . In the qualification Mersmann / Schneider were able to prevail for the main field, Laboreur / Sude on the other hand failed. After the group phase, Borger / Büthe went straight to the second knockout round as the group first, while Holtwick / Semmler and Mersmann / Schneider were eliminated without a win. After beating the Brazilians Ágatha / Seixas , Borger / Büthe narrowly lost in the quarterfinals against the eventual tournament winners A. Ross / Walsh and finished fifth.

Berlin smart Grand Slam, Germany, June 17-22, 2014

Ludwig / Walkenhorst could not compete again due to health problems of Walkenhorst, whereby Mersmann / Schneider were also seeded for the main field. The Bieneck / Großner team was added via the qualifying round . Bieneck / Großner, Holtwick / Semmler and Mersmann / Schneider were eliminated after the preliminary round. Laboreur / Sude took ninth place and Borger / Büthe won bronze.

Holtwick / Semmler won a Grand Slam on the World Tour for the first time in their career so far. The national duo won the first all-German final of the World Tour against Borger / Büthe 2-0 (24-22, 21-16).

The Hague Grand Slam, the Netherlands, July 15-20, 2014

After Holtwick / Semmler became the first German women's team to win a Grand Slam in the purely German final in Gstaad in the last tournament, they were in the final again in The Hague. On the way to the final they defeated the DVV duo Borger / Büthe as well as teams from China, the USA and Brazil. In the final, the German national duo lost to the Brazilians Lima / Fernanda 1: 2 (16-21, 21-17, 12-15).
