Lena Maria Plesiutschnig (born October 4, 1993 in Graz ) is an Austrian volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career beach volleyball

Plesiutschnig and Katharina Schützenhöfer took 19th place at the 2010 World Youth Championship in Porto and came seventh at the same place at the U18 European Championship. In 2011 they reached the final of the U19 World Cup in Umag . Then Schützenhöfer / Plesiutschnig won the U20 European Championship in Tel Aviv and finished ninth in the European U23 tournament in Porto. In the same year they also won the national U20 championship. In 2012 they finished seventh in the U23 European Championship in Assen . Plesiutschnig / Schützenhöfer finished the U20 tournament in front of their home crowd in Hartberg in fifth place. They also finished ninth at the Junior World Championships in Halifax . In 2013 Plesiutschnig had to take a break due to a shoulder injury. After their return, the duo achieved a fifth place at the U23 World Cup in Mysłowice . Plesiutschnig / Schützenhöfer won the bronze medal at the U21 tournament in Umag.

Then Plesiutschnig formed a new duo with Magdalena Jirak , who finished ninth at the Universiade in Kazan. At her first open tournament on the FIVB World Tour in Anapa , she reached 17th place. Plesiutschnig / Jirak took part in the EM in Klagenfurt with a wildcard . They won their opening game against their compatriots Hansel / Schützenhöfer and came third in the group in the first knockout round. There they had to admit defeat to the duo van der Vlist / Wesselink in the third European Championship game against a Dutch team .

Since autumn 2013, Plesiutschnig has formed a duo with Schützenhöfer again. In the 2014 season, Plesiutschnig / Schützenhöfer first achieved ninth place at the Prague Open and seventh place at the Baden Masters, before finishing fifth again at the U23 World Cup in Mysłowice . They then completed several Grand Slams, finishing ninth in the top ten in Klagenfurt. On the national tour they won in Fürstenfeld . At the U22 European Championship in Fethiye , they came in fifth. In 2015, after a few weaker open and major tournaments at the European Games in Baku, they celebrated one of their greatest successes when they only lost to the Swiss Betschart / Eiholzer in the final . At the European Championships in Klagenfurt , they had to admit defeat as third in the first knockout round. A week later they finished ninth at the CEV Masters in Biel / Bienne . In 2016 they only achieved top placements in satellite tournaments. At the European Championships in Biel / Bienne there was the same result as last year with third place in the preliminary round and the end in the first main round.

In the 2017 season Plesiutschnig played with Cornelia Rimser . Rimser / Plesiutschnig finished ninth at the Baden Masters. For the World Cup in Vienna they got one of the two starting places of the host nation, but were eliminated without a win after the group stage.

On May 6, 2018, Plesiutschnig and Katharina Schützenhöfer defeated Sanne Keizer and Madelein Meppelink from the Netherlands and won the three-star tournament on the World Tour in Mersin .

Career indoor volleyball

Plesiutschnig began her career in the hall at ATSE Graz. In 2010, the outside attacker moved from the second division to Bundesliga club TSV Hartberg .
