Marloes Wesselink (born April 14, 1987 in Doetinchem ) is a Dutch beach volleyball player .

Career

Wesselink finished ninth in 2004 with Daniëlle Remmers at the World Youth Championship in Termoli . From 2005 she played with Marleen van Iersel and was fifth and third at the Junior World Championships in 2005 in Saint-Quay-Portrieux and in 2006 in Mysłowice . At the 2007 European Championship, the two Dutch women lost to the German duo Pohl / Rau in the main round and were only stopped by the Norwegians Håkedal / Tørlen in the fourth losing round . They then won bronze again at the Junior World Championships in Modena . In 2008 they had to admit defeat to the eventual overall winners Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig in the third round of the European Championships in Hamburg before they were eliminated by Pohl / Rau.

In 2009 Wesselink first completed a few tournaments with Remmers before forming a new duo with Merel Mooren . At the World Championships in Stavanger Wesselink / Mooren came third in the group in the first main round and failed because of the Brazilians Talita / Antonelli . The EM in Sochi was over for them after the preliminary round. Then they parted ways and Wesselink met Madelein Meppelink . The new couple finished fifth at the 2010 Grand Slam in Stavanger and reached the quarter-finals at the European Championships in Berlin against Goller / Ludwig, who later won the title again. At the 2011 World Cup in Rome , Wesselink / Meppelink had to say goodbye after the group matches. Wesselink played in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee for the first time with Roos van der Hoeven , with whom she was eliminated at the European Championships in Kristiansand in the round of 16 against the Germans Goller / Ludwig . In 2012 Wesselink played with Jolien Sinnema . In 2013 she formed a duo with Jantine van der Vlist . At the Grand Slam in The Hague , van der Vlist / Wesselink reached the semi-finals. At the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki they were eliminated after the preliminary round despite a victory over the Lithuanians Dumbauskaitė / Povilaitytė . From 2014 to 2017 Wesselink played with Laura Bloem , since 2016 mainly at national tournaments. In 2018, Wesselink competed again at the domestic European championship alongside Sophie van Gestel .
