Career

Håkedal started playing volleyball at Hånes VBK at the age of 13 and moved to Oslo in 1999 to study languages , where she worked for Koll VC. At the same time, she started her career in beach volleyball in 1995. Her first partner was Lise Roald Hansen , with whom she gained international experience in 2000 and 2001 at Challenger tournaments in Xylokastro , the Grand Slam in Marseille and the Esphino Open. The following year, Håkedal completed her first joint tournament in Madrid with her long-time partner Ingrid Tørlen . In 2003, the duo reached ninth place at the European Championships in Alanya and 17th place at the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro . A year later, Håkedal / Tørlen finished the continental tournament in Timmendorfer Strand in 19th place. The same result was achieved at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . The second participation in the World Cup ended in Berlin in 2005 in 17th place. In 2006, the two Norwegians achieved top ten placements in a row at twelve international tournaments. At the beginning of the following year they made it into a final for the first time in Shanghai ; they were only defeated by the Chinese Jia Tian / Jie Wang in the tiebreak at 13:15. After finishing 17th at the World Championships in Gstaad , they celebrated their greatest success to date in third place at the European Championships in Valencia . The next continental tournament went even better. In 2008 in Hamburg , Håkedal / Tørlen lost the final against the German duo Sara Goller / Laura Ludwig after they had defeated their compatriots Glesnes / Maaseide in the semifinals . At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 they also made it into the top ten in ninth place, while in 2009 at the World Championships in front of their own audience in Stavanger they only came in 17th place. After finishing ninth at the European Championships in Sochi , Håkedal said goodbye to international tournaments at the Phuket Open that same year .
