Katharina Schützenhöfer (born September 22, 1993 in Hartberg ) is an Austrian volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career

Schützenhöfer and Lena Plesiutschnig took 19th place at the 2010 World Youth Championship in Porto and was seventh at the same place at the U18 European Championship. In 2011 they reached the final of the U19 World Cup in Umag . Then Schützenhöfer / Plesiutschnig won the U20 European Championship in Tel Aviv and finished ninth in the European U23 tournament in Porto. In 2012 they finished seventh in the U23 European Championship in Assen . Schützenhöfer finished the U20 tournament in her hometown with Plesiutschnig in fifth place. The duo also finished ninth at the Junior World Championships in Halifax . Schützenhöfer won the U18 and U20 championships nationally.

When her partner was injured, the middle blocker played again at TSV Hartberg in the hall. She led the team to the semi-finals of the Austrian championship and thus to the European Cup.

Schützenhöfer then formed a new beach duo with Barbara Hansel . The pair finished 17th at the Fuzhou Open and seventh at the Grand Slam in Corrientes . For the U23 World Cup in Mysłowice Schützenhöfer competed again with Plesiutschnig and reached fifth place. Plesiutschnig / Schützenhöfer won the bronze medal at the U21 tournament in Umag. At the World Cup in Stare Jabłonki Schützenhöfer / Hansel reached the last sixteen, where they were eliminated against their compatriots Schwaiger / Schwaiger and finished in ninth place. The European Championship in Klagenfurt ended for them in the preliminary round after they had lost the opening game against Plesiutschnig / Jirak . In September 2013 they won the Austrian state championship in Rabenstein .

Since autumn 2013, Plesiutschnig has formed a duo with Schützenhöfer again. In the 2014 season, Plesiutschnig / Schützenhöfer first achieved ninth place at the Prague Open and seventh place at the Baden Masters, before finishing fifth again at the U23 World Cup in Mysłowice . They then completed several Grand Slams, finishing ninth in the top ten in Klagenfurt. On the national tour they won in Fürstenfeld . At the U22 European Championship in Fethiye , they came in fifth. In 2015, after a few weaker open and major tournaments at the European Games in Baku, they celebrated one of their greatest successes when they only lost to the Swiss Betschart / Eiholzer in the final . At the European Championships in Klagenfurt , they had to admit defeat as third in the first knockout round. A week later they finished ninth at the CEV Masters in Biel / Bienne . In 2016 they only achieved top placements in satellite tournaments. At the European Championships in Biel / Bienne there was the same result as last year with third place in the preliminary round and the end in the first main round.

In October 2016, after Barbara Hansel's career ended, Schützenhöfer became the new partner of European champion Stefanie Schwaiger . Schwaiger / Schützenhöfer finished fifth on the 2017 World Tour in Xiamen and finished ninth at the CEV Masters in Baden. For the world championship in Vienna they got one of the two starting places of the host nation and reached the main round here.

On May 6, 2018, Schützenhöfer and her new partner Lena Plesiutschnig defeated Sanne Keizer and Madelein Meppelink from the Netherlands and won the three-star tournament on the World Tour in Mersin .
