Barbara Hansel (born September 18, 1983 in Oberndorf near Salzburg ) is an Austrian beach volleyball player .
Career
Hansel began her beach volleyball career in 2000 and completed her first tournaments in Austria with her sister Julia Hansel . Two years later she got together with her new partner, Sara Montagnolli . In 2003 the duo reached the top ten in Bali in ninth place and finished the 2003 World Cup in 33rd place. At the 2004 European Championships in Timmendorfer Strand they came in 19th place. During the season Hansel changed her partner and now competed with Christina Gschweidl . The new couple won the national title that same year. In 2005 in Berlin there was again 33rd place as in the previous World Cup. At the European Championships in 2007 in Valencia (17) and 2008 in Hamburg (25), the results were also mediocre.
Hansel has been playing with Montagnolli again since 2009. After two ninth places at the Open tournaments in Brasília and Osaka , they qualified for the World Cup in Stavanger . Then they just missed a medal in fourth in Klagenfurt and at the European Championships in Sochi they reached ninth place. A year later they won bronze at the Marseille Open and came fifth at the 2010 Beach Volleyball European Championship in Berlin . At the 2011 World Cup, they were eliminated as the bottom group after the preliminary round. At the 2011 European Beach Volleyball Championships in Kristiansand , Hansel / Montagnolli won the silver medal.
In July 2012, Montagnolli ended her career after the Grand Slam in Klagenfurt . In Stare Jabłonki , Hansel competed with Magdalena Jirak . In September 2012 she played as a replacement for Yekaterina Chomjakowa with Yevgenia Ukolowa at the Russian State Championships and won the title.
In 2013 she formed a duo with Katharina Schützenhöfer . Hansel / Schützenhöfer came 17th at the Fuzhou Open and seventh at the Grand Slam in Corrientes . At the World Cup in Stare Jabłonki they reached the second round, where they were eliminated against their compatriots Schwaiger / Schwaiger and finished ninth. From 2013 to 2014 Hansel played with Bianca Zass and from 2014 with Stefanie Schwaiger . She ended her career in August 2016.
