The TSV Hartberg Volleyball is a premier volleyball club from Hartberg in eastern Styria. The club is best known for working with Austrian players and ambitious youth work.

history

The Hartberger volleyball club was founded on January 25, 1985 as a section of TSV Hartberg . Right from the start, the functionaries focused on a broad range of youth work in order to be able to fill the combat teams with young players from their own youth teams. Over the years TSV Hartberg has been able to position itself as the top club in Styria. The men's team made it to the 1st Bundesliga in 1997 , the women's team followed in 2004.

On May 24th, 2000 the volleyball section and on June 8th the board of TSV Hartberg decided to outsource the section and to found their own club "TSV Hartberg Volleyball". In 2005 the men's team was able to qualify for the European Cup for the first time , in which both teams were represented several times in the following years.

AVL (men)

The 1st men's team was able to qualify as winners of the 2nd Bundesliga in 1996/1997 for the first Bundesliga ( AVL ), in which it has played since then. In the 2006/2007 season the team won the Austrian Volleyball Cup. Coach Michael Horvath's team (from 2011/2012 Markus Hirczy) was also represented in the final games of the Cup in the following seasons . In autumn 2010, the team was even able to defeat the German Bundesliga club TV Rottenburg in the home game in the European Cup , but narrowly lost the decisive set away. As the only association of the AVL, the Hartbergers completely renounced the use of legionnaires in 2011/2012 .

WVL (women)

After numerous national championship titles in 2003, the first TSV women's team was promoted to the Austrian Volley League Women ( WVL ). Since then, the team has been able to hold its own in the top division. In 2010/2011 they were also represented in the European Cup. Under coach Markus Hollerit, the team was able to secure the finals in the Austrian Cup after a thrilling semi-final against the top team Linz -Steg. There they were clearly defeated by SVS Post from Schwechat with 0: 3.
