Sanne Keizer (born February 6, 1985 in Doetinchem ) is a Dutch beach volleyball and volleyball player .
Career hall
In her birthplace, Sanne Keizer began playing indoor volleyball at Orion Doetinchem at the age of eleven. She later belonged to the Dutch national youth team and played for Longa 59 Lichtenvoorde and Martinus Amstelveen in the honor division of her home country.
Career Beach
The Dutch woman won the gold medal with Arjanne Stevens at the U18 World Championships in Greece in 2002. In the same year the two athletes became vice European champions in Ukraine. From 2003 Sanne Keizer competed with Merel Mooren in various FIVB tournaments with thirteenth place in Marseille in 2004 as the best result at the World Tour. The two athletes also won a Challenger & Satellite event in Lausanne. Between 2005 and 2008 Keizer achieved fourth place with Marrit Leenstra in Montréal and fifth place in Bali as well as fifth place with Mered de Vries in Klagenfurt.
In 2009 the former youth national player and her new partner Marleen van Iersel won their first medal at a tournament in the world series. After the defeat in the semifinals against the Brazilians Larissa and Juliana , the two Europeans defeated the Americans Angie Akers and Tyra Turner in the bronze medal match. In the same season, Keizer / van Iersel finished fourth in Gstaad and fifth in Klagenfurt and Phuket. At the World Championships in Stavanger , the Dutch women reached the main field as group winners after two successes in the preliminary round. There they defeated the Norwegians Maaseide / Kongshavn and then the number eight Brazilian sisters Maria Clara and Carol , before they lost in the quarter-finals to the later finalists Larissa and Juliana and, together with three other teams, were fifth in the overall ranking.
2010
After two seventeenth places in the first two events of the FIVB Tour, Keizer and van Iersel achieved ninth places in Rome and Moscow . After victories over the Germans Sude / Koehler and the three listed Brazilians Antonelli / Talita , the Western Europeans failed in Stavanger at Branagh / May-Treanor and finished fifth. They were able to improve this result in Marseille . There they beat the Germans Goller and Ludwig in the quarter-finals , but were subsequently subject to two Austrian duos and came fourth. Keizer and van Iersel also achieved the same ranking in their home country in The Hague , where they were able to defeat the Salgado sisters, Larissa and Juliana, Angie Akers and Tyra Turner one after the other, but also in the fight for the Talita / Antonelli medals and in the second clash were defeated by Akers and Turner. At the end of the game year, the athletes from the Netherlands took fourth place on Phuket , defeating the Schwaiger sisters Stefanie and Doris as well as Goller / Ludwig before they beat Walsh / Branagh in the semifinals and in the game for third place against the Brazilian Sisters Carol and Maria Clara lost.
2011
Keizer and Van Iersel achieved ninth places at the beginning of the season in Brasilia and Sanya , and they achieved their greatest success to date at the following event in Shanghai . First they defeated Holtwick / Semmler from Germany, then Kolocova / Slukova from the Czech Republic and then the number two Chinese Xue Chen / Zhang Xi and number three on the seeding list, Antonelli and Talita. After their semi-final victory over Stefanie and Doris Schwaiger, the Dutch women were able to defeat the reigning world champions Jennifer Kessy and April Ross in the final . After the 15:21, 26:24 and 15:13 success, Sanne Keizer and Marleen Van Iersel received a gold medal on the FIVB World Tour for the first time in their careers. The two of them were able to confirm this success at the next tournament in Poland . Kessy and Ross were defeated in the semifinals. The opponents in the final in Myslowice were the Italians Cicolari / Menegatti . After a 25th place in Beijing , Keizer / Van Iersel failed at the World Championships in Rome after three successes in their pool and the subsequent victory over their compatriots Mooren / Kadijk in the following round to Sude / Köhler and took ninth place. In Stavanger , the Dutch duo reached the semifinals in Gstaad sportsmen from Western Europe ranked fifth. After two ninth places in Moscow and Stare Jablonki , Sanne Keizer and Marleen Van Iersel lost the semifinals in Klagenfurt against the double Olympic champions May-Treanor / Walsh, but then secured the bronze medal against Talita / Antonelli. At the European Championships in Norway , the first placed Dutch women finished fifth after losing to the Austrians Barbara Hansel and Sara Montagnolli .
2012-2014
In 2012 Keizer and van Iersel won the European championship in their own country and finished ninth at the Olympic Games in London . In 2013 Keizer / van Iersel reached the last sixteen at the World Cup in Stare Jabłonki , where they were eliminated against the Brazilians Liliane Maestrini / Seixas and finished ninth. They also finished ninth at the European Championships in Klagenfurt . In 2014 she announced her retirement with the Grand Slam in The Hague, where she played with Sophie van Gestel .
Since 2017
In June 2017, she represented the injured van Gestel as a partner of Madelein Meppelink in The Hague and decided to make a comeback. At the three-star tournament of the World Tour in Mersin , Keizer and Meppelink took second place in May 2018. In July 2018, Keizer / Meppelink became European champions in their home country .
