Jana Köhler (born January 11, 1986 in Berlin ) is a former German beach volleyball player .

Career as a player

Jana Köhler has competed in both national and international beach tournaments since 2003. From 2003 to 2007 she won medals in series at various European and World Junior Championships. In 2009, she suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament that forced her to take a long break.

2010

With her beach partner Julia Sude , Jana Köhler took fifth place at the European Championships in Berlin at the beginning of August. A week later, Köhler-Sude landed fifth at the world series tournament in Aland / Finland . At the German Beach Volleyball Championships in Timmendorf, Jana Köhler and Julia Sude won the final on August 28 against the European champions Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig with 2-1 sets.

2011

With a fifth place at the beach volleyball world championship 2011 in Rome, Jana Köhler and her partner Julia Sude achieved the best German result. In August Köhler / Sude played at the European Championships in Kristiansand , where they lost 2-0 in the quarter-finals against the new European champions Cicolari / Menegatti . At the German championship they were defeated in the final by Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig .

2012

After a ninth place at the European Championship in Scheveningen , Jana Köhler and Julia Sude parted ways. With her new partner Anni Schumacher , Jana Köhler then achieved three victories in a row on the national Smart Beach Tour and a ninth place in the Grand Slam in Berlin . At the German championships , Köhler / Schumacher took fourth place.

2013/2014

Both with Anni Schumacher and sporadically with Elena Kiesling , Köhler had numerous national and international top ten placements. There were tournament victories at the FIVB Challenger in Seoul (2013 with Kiesling), at the CEV Satellite in Vaduz (2013 with Schumacher), at the Smart Beach Cup in St. Peter-Ording (2014 with Schumacher), at the Smart Beach Cup in Nuremberg ( 2014 with Kiesling) and on the Swiss coop beach tour in Rorschach (2014 with Katharina Culav ). At the German Championships, Köhler / Schumacher took fifth place in 2013 and 2014 . Jana Köhler ended her career in September 2014.

Career as a trainer

Since 2015, Köhler has been working as a trainer at the Beachcenter Hamburg and also in international training camps. From August to September 2017 she worked as a sports director for beach volleyball in the German Volleyball Association.
