Maria Kleefisch (today Maria Walkenhorst , born June 21, 1984 in Königs Wusterhausen ) is a German beach volleyball and volleyball player .

Sports career hall

Kleefisch played in her youth in Berlin since 1996 with Eintracht Mahlsdorf . From 1999 she was active in the junior team of the VCO Berlin in the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 2002/03 season, the outside attacker played for Bundesliga club VC 68 Eichwalde . After his descent, Kleefisch moved to the second division club Köpenicker SC , with whom she was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2005. She then played for four years in the 2nd Bundesliga at SC Potsdam , with whom she was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2009. Then Kleefisch moved back to Köpenicker SC for one season. In 2010/11 she played for the second division club SG Rotation Prenzlauer Berg and then for two years at VV Grimma . From 2013 to 2016 she played for the Hamburg third division club Eimsbütteler TV , where she was also an assistant trainer in 2015/16.

Sports career beach

Since 2000, Kleefisch has also been active in the sand. Katrin Holtwick was her partner until 2004 , with whom she reached third place at the U20 European Championship in Salzburg in 2003 and second place at the U21 World Championship in Saint-Quay-Portrieux , France . In 2004, Holtwick / Kleefisch landed ninth at the European Championships in Timmendorf . In 2005 Kleefisch played alongside Friederike Romberg and in 2006 together with Luise Brandt . From 2007 to 2009 she formed a duo with Jana Köhler , with whom she achieved her best result in a German championship in 2007 with seventh place . After Köhler's cruciate ligament tear, Kleefisch played the 2009 season with Britta Büthe to the end. After a break in 2010, Kleefisch was only sporadically active in national tournaments in the sand until 2014. Kleefisch has been a trainer at the Hamburg Olympic Training Center since 2013.

Private

Maria Kleefisch's younger brother Kai Kleefisch also played volleyball. She has been married to beach volleyball Olympic champion Kira Walkenhorst since October 27, 2017 . She gave birth to triplets in October 2018.
