Katharina Culav (born July 11, 1989 in Elmshorn ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career hall

In her youth Katharina Culav played indoor volleyball at VG Elmshorn , where she was also used in the regional league. From 2008 to 2010 the outside attacker played for the second division club 1. VC Norderstedt . After that she was active for one season at WiWa Hamburg and became champion of the Regionalliga Nord here. Since 2013 she has been playing with her then beach volleyball partner Anna Behlen in the national league team of MTV 48 Hildesheim , with which she was promoted to the association league in 2014 and now plays in the 3rd League West .

Career Beach

Katharina Culav was already active in beach volleyball as a teenager and played a.o. a. with Carina Maaß at various national youth championships. From 2008 to 2010 she played alongside Sarah Hoppe on the Smart Beach Tour and other national tournaments. With Chantal Laboureur she reached ninth place at the U21 World Cup in Blackpool, England . At the German championships in Timmendorfer Strand , Culav / Hoppe took 13th place in 2010. In 2011, Culav played with Katharina Schillerwein and came in seventh at the German championships. In 2012 Jenny Heinemann was her partner, with whom she reached 13th place in the German championships . With her new standard partner Anna Behlen , Katharina Culav took 13th place again in the German championships in 2013 .

In 2014 , the women born in Schleswig-Holstein improved to ninth place. In the same year they took part in a tournament of the FIVB World Tour for the first time . At the last tournament of the year, the Mangaung Open in South Africa , they came second in the pool. Then they defeated a South African team in the first main round and a French team in the second round, before failing in the quarter-finals to the later bronze medalists Ukolowa / Prokopjewa . The two Germans thus took fifth place in the final ranking. After a serious knee injury at the first FIVB tournament in Fuzhou , China in 2015 , Culav had to take a break for several weeks. At the German championships , Behlen / Culav took 13th place.

In 2016 Sandra Seyfferth was Culav's partner, in 2017 she played again with Sarah Hoppe.
