Chantal Laboureur (born January 4, 1990 in Friedrichshafen ) is a German beach volleyball and former volleyball player . In her youth she was European and world champion. With Julia Sude , she became military world champion in 2014, won the German championship in 2017 and has been one of the top international duos since 2015. She is German beach volleyball player of the year 2018 .

Career hall

At the age of seven, Laboreur began playing volleyball indoors at the local BSG Dornier Immenstaad on Lake Constance ; her mother had started a volleyball group there. At the age of twelve she moved to the neighboring club VfB Friedrichshafen . In 2005 she went to the Olympic Training Center in Heidelberg and a year and a half later to the VC Olympia Berlin . The outside attacker played with the VCO teams in the second and first Bundesliga. She was also a member of the youth or junior national team. In 2009 Laboureur moved to the newly promoted Bundesliga SC Potsdam , where she played for two years. In 2011 she went back to southern Germany and played sporadically in the second division team of Allianz MTV Stuttgart .

Career Beach

2004 to 2012

In 2004, Laboreur was C-youth champion with Janine Sauter and vice-champion in the B-youth of the state association Württemberg. In 2007 she missed the youth championships in the hall due to an ankle injury and instead began a career in the sand. She formed a duo with Levke Spinger and with her became U18 European champion in Brno and German U19 runner-up in Kiel . She also won the German U19 championship in Bostalsee with Bente Heublein . In 2008 Laboreur played a tournament on the Smart Beach Tour in Norderney with Kira Walkenhorst . With Springer she became U19 world champion in The Hague with a final victory against the Dutch Braakman / van Gestel . In the 2009 season she achieved some top ten results with Katharina Schillerwein on the national tour and reached 13th place at the CEV Masters in Blackpool . A week later she entered the U21 World Cup in the same position as Katharina Culav and came in ninth.

At the beginning of the FIVB World Tour 2010 , she completed her first open tournament with Claudia Lehmann in Brasília . In some other FIVB tournaments, Laboureur / Lehmann were subject to the "Country Quota". On the national tour u. a. Second in Munster . At the German championship in Timmendorfer Strand they came in fifth place. With Victoria Bieneck , Laboreur finished fourth at the U21 World Cup in Alanya . In 2011 she formed a duo with Christine Aulenbrock , who regularly achieved top ten results nationally. At the satellite tournaments in Baden and Geroskipou they finished ninth and seventh. At the German championship they reached ninth place. Shortly before that, Laboreur and Walkenhorst finished third in the U23 European Championship in Porto . In 2012 Laboreur / Aulenbrock reached third place at the Challenger tournament in Seoul . In the other FIVB and CEV tournaments, they were eliminated early. In Assen , Laboureur and Walkenhorst became U23 European champions in the final against the Russians Abalakina / Tschaika . At the German championship, she finished fifth with Aulenbrock. With Anni Schumacher , she reached third place at the Student World Cup in Maceió . At the end of the year she played the FIVB tournament in Bang Saen with Anika Krebs .

2013 to 2018

Since 2013, Laboreur has formed a duo with Julia Sude . In their first season together, Laboreur / Sude finished third at the satellite tournament in Montpellier and fifth at the Challenger tournament in Seoul . At the Universiade in Kazan they won the bronze medal. They also played on the World Tour . Nationally they won the tournaments in Mannheim and Sankt Peter-Ording . In the German championship they stayed in fourth place after losing to Holtwick / Semmler and Borger / Büthe . Then they won two “Zonal Events” of the CEV in Rottenburg and Montpellier. In December they reached the final at the Durban Open, which they lost to the Chinese women Xia Xinyi and Xue Chen . At the beginning of the 2014 season, Laboureur / Sude won the satellite tournament in Anapa . On the World Tour they finished ninth in Fuzhou , fourth in Puerto Vallarta and fifth in the Anapa Open. At the European Championships in Quartu Sant'Elena they came second in the group in the first knockout round, in which they were eliminated against the Czechs Bonnerová / Hermannová . In Warendorf they won the military world championship. Laboreur played the following tournaments with changing partners because Sude temporarily played with Laura Ludwig . They started the 2015 season with a second place in Fuzhou , where they lost the final against Canadians Broder / Valjas . With a fifth place in Prague and various ninth places they established themselves on the FIVB World Tour . At the World Cup in the Netherlands, they were group winners in the first knockout round to the Kazakh duo Maschkowa / Zymbalowa . They were also 17th in Gstaad and Yokohama . At the EM in Klagenfurt they stayed in the preliminary round without losing a set and won the German round of 16 against Holtwick / Semmler, before they were eliminated in the round of 16 against the Russians Ukolowa / Birlowa . They then finished ninth in Long Beach and fifth in Rio de Janeiro . In the German championship they had to admit defeat to Ludwig / Walkenhorst and Holtwick / Semmler and came fourth. In Fort Lauderdale they finished ninth in the World Tour Final. The same result was achieved at the first tournaments of the World Tour 2016 . After a fifth place in Vitória and a fourth place in Xiamen, they were only defeated in Fuzhou in the final against the US duo Walsh / Ross . In Sochi , they were fifth and in Antalya ninth. At the EM in Biel / Bienne they came as group winners to the quarter-finals, which they lost in the tie-break against Ukolowa / Birlowa. A month later they reached the final of the Poreč Major with a win against Borger / Büthe, in which they defeated the Canadians Pavan / Bansley , with which they celebrated their first tournament victory on the World Tour. At the following major tournaments in Gstaad and Klagenfurt they were fifth and ninth. Although they were among the top five in the world rankings, they missed qualifying for the Olympic Games in Rio because of the restriction to two teams per nation . They finished third at the Grand Slam in Long Beach . Then they won the CEV Masters in Jūrmala in a German final against Mersmann / Schneider . At the German championship they lost to the Olympic champions Ludwig / Walkenhorst in the final.

At the FIVB opening tournament in Fort Lauderdale in 2017 , Laboreur / Sude clearly won the game for third place 2-0 against Summer Ross / Brooke Sweat . In June they won the CEV Masters in Baden, Austria . In July they won the 5-star major tournament in Gstaad after a 2-0 final against world number one Larissa and Talita from Brazil. Shortly afterwards, Laboreur / Sude received the status of the "German national team" from the DVV . At the World Cup in Vienna they reached the quarter-finals after five wins without losing a set, where they lost 2-0 to Canadians Humana-Paredes / Pavan . Then they came at the EM in Jūrmala without losing a set in the semi-finals, which they lost against the Czechs Kolocová / Kvapilová . In the match for bronze they prevailed against the Poles Kołosińska / Gruszczyńska . At the FIVB season finale in Hamburg, Laboureur / Sude took fifth place. In Timmendorfer Strand , Laboreur and Sude became German champions for the first time after beating Melanie Gernert and Tatjana Zautys 2-1 in the final .

In 2018, Laboureur / Sude started the FIVB World Tour with 17th place at the 5-star tournament in Fort Lauderdale and fifth at the 4-star tournament in Xiamen . At the 4-star tournament in Huntington Beach they landed on the podium for the first time with third place. This was followed by ninth place in Itapema , fifth in Ostrava , second in Warsaw and second in Gstaad . At the EM in the Netherlands, Laboreur / Sude were eliminated in the quarter-finals. After finishing fourth in Moscow , they finished fifth at the World Tour Final in Hamburg. Chantal Laboreur was then voted German beach volleyball player of the year 2018 .

Since 2019

In January 2019, Sude surprisingly split from Laboreur. Laboreur then found a new partner in Sandra Ittlinger , with the aim of tackling the qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics . After mixed placements on the World Tour , Ittlinger / Laboreur reached fifth place at the European Championships in Moscow .

Private

Laboreur became a sports soldier in 2009 . She studies medicine at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen .

Others

In the ProSieben show Beginner versus Winner , broadcast on August 4, 2018 , Laboreur / Sude competed in a beach volleyball duel. They had to wear flippers as a handicap , but still prevailed against two students from Leipzig .
