Summer Noel Ross (born December 20, 1992 in Carlsbad ) is an American volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career indoor volleyball
Summer Ross started volleyball in 2005. Their first club was Encinitas WAVE . In 2008, the outside attacker played for Laguna Beach before moving to Coast VBC in 2009. In 2011 she was active on the “Huskies” team during her studies at the University of Washington . In early 2012, however, she moved to Pepperdine University to concentrate fully on beach volleyball .
Career beach volleyball
Summer Ross' beach volleyball career began in 2008 when she joined Jane Croson as the youngest team at the World Junior Championships in Brighton, finishing ninth. The following year she was fifth with Croson at the Youth World Cup in Alanya as well as with Jazmin Machado at the global junior tournament in Blackpool . At the same time she played on the AVP tour. In 2010 Summer Ross won the Junior World Championships in Porto with Croson and then became Junior World Champion with Tara Roenicke . She achieved a historic record because she was the first player to win both competitions within a year. In 2011 she took part in the FIVB World Tour tournament for the first time at the Québec Open . When former Olympian Nicole Branagh was looking for a partner for the Grand Slam in Berlin in 2012 , Summer Ross also experienced the first competition in this category. With Sara Hughes she reached fourth place at the Junior World Championships in Halifax and 17th place at the Bang Saen Open. In 2013 she finally decided to pursue a professional career in the sand. With Brittany Hochevar , she made it to the finals on the Continental Tour and again a 17th place in Fuzhou . For the Grand Slam in Corrientes , she first appeared with Emily Day . At the 2013 World Cup in Stare Jabłonki , Day / Summer reached the main round, where they were eliminated by the Austrian Schwaiger / Schwaiger siblings . In 2015, Summer Ross first played alongside Jennifer Fopma and later with Lane Carico until 2016 . Brooke Sweat was her new partner since 2017 . After finishing third at the FIVB 5-star tournament in Fort Lauderdale , the two parted ways.
Sarah Hughes has been Ross ′ partner since April 2018 . On the FIVB World Tour , Hughes / S. Ross got some top ten results and finished third in the 4-star tournament in Espinho . The Americans won the 4-star tournament in Moscow in the final against world number one Ágatha / Duda from Brazil.
family
Summer Ross comes from a volleyball family. Her mother played beach volleyball and her brother Chase played as an outside attacker and in the sand at Pepperdine University.
