Katharina Schillerwein (born April 18, 1987 in Hamburg ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career indoor volleyball

Katharina Schillerwein played indoor volleyball in the regional league at FT Adler Kiel until 2008 . After a stay abroad at the University of Montana , where she was used by the Grizzlies , the outside attacker played for second division club VT Aurubis Hamburg 2 . In the 2010/11 season she was active at WiWa Hamburg and was champion of the Regionalliga Nord. In 2018 Schillerwein played for the second division TV Gladbeck .

Career beach volleyball

Katharina Schillerwein played beach volleyball with Berit Naffin at tournaments in northern Germany from 2003 to 2004 . In 2004 she and Lina Gorenc reached third place at the U18 European Championships in Mysłowice (Poland) and fifth at the U18 World Championships in Termoli (Italy). In 2005 Schillerwein played with Sarah Eichler at national tournaments and finished fifth at the U18 World Championships in Saint-Quay-Portrieux, France . In 2006 she played with Julia Großner on the national Smart Beach Tour and reached seventh place at the U20 European Championships in Ankaran, Slovenia and ninth place at the German championships in Timmendorfer Strand . She was also ninth with Jennifer Eckardt at the U21 World Championships in Mysłowice.

After a break in 2007, Schillerwein played in 2008 with various partners at national tournaments. In 2009 Chantal Laboreur was her standard partner, and she also took part in the German championships with Sarah Eichler. In 2010 Schillerwein started with Marika Steinhauff in Kristiansand, Norway for the first time on the FIVB World Tour and reached ninth place with Christine Aulenbrock at the German championships. With Katharina Culav , she had her best placement at the German championships in 2011: seventh place. In addition, Schillerwein became German university champion together with Sarah Hoppe and started with Geeske Banck on the FIVB World Tour in Åland, Finland . In 2012 and 2013 she played with Stefanie Hüttermann (including at the FIVB World Tour in Sanya , China ) before she had to take a longer break after two cruciate ligament tears .

Since 2014, Schillerwein started alongside Cinja Tillmann . In Hamburg, Schillerwein / Tillmann won the Super Cup of the national Smart Beach Tour . They took second place in Binz, third place in Nuremberg, fifth in Münster and seventh in Cologne. In Dresden they defeated Jana Köhler and Anni Schumacher in the final of the Beach Cup . On the CEV Tour they came fourth at the Satellite in Antalya and third at the Satellite in Vaduz. At the German championships , Katharina Schillerwein and her partner took seventh place.

2015 was the most successful season for Schillerwein / Tillmann. With five victories this year on the highest-ranking national Smart Beach Tour in Hamburg , Dresden , Binz , St. Peter-Ording and Nuremberg , they set a historic record from 2001. In August 2015 they also won the CEV satellite in Timișoara, Romania . At the German championships , Schillerwein / Tillmann took fifth place.

2016 started for Schillerwein / Tillmann with a victory at the Smart Beach Supercup in Münster . At the German championships , Schillerwein / Tillmann took ninth place. In 2017 they won the CEV satellite tournaments in Vilnius and Mersin. After finishing fifth in the 2017 German Championship , Schillerwein ended her beach volleyball career.

Professional

Katharina Schillerwein successfully completed her studies in Hamburg as a teacher in the subjects of sport and chemistry with a bachelor's degree. She also completed her bachelor's degree in physiotherapy from 2013 to 2017 at the University of Health in Bochum.
