Geeske Banck (born January 22, 1981 in Kiel ) is a former German beach volleyball and volleyball player .

Career hall

In 1994 Geeske Banck started playing indoor volleyball at FT Adler Kiel , with which she was promoted to the second division in 1999. Ten years later she was promoted to the second division again, where she played for Kiel TV in 2009/10 . After a twelfth place in 2009/10, the KTV rose again to the Regionalliga Nord, where second place was achieved in 2010/11. After a third place in 2011/12, Geeske Banck was runner-up in the newly created third division with the KTV 2012/13 and rose again to the second division. In 2014 she ended her indoor career.

In 1997, the native of Kiel started her beach volleyball career parallel to the hall. Initially, she played alongside Martina Stein from Kiel. In her only tournament with Friederike Romberg , she finished second in the U23 European Championship in Poland in 2003. In 2005 Geeske Banck played with Mireya Kaup . At the European Championships in Moscow , the two were only defeated by the later finalists Kadijk / Mooren from the Netherlands and came fifth, a week later the Bavarian / North German combination defeated the Claasen / Röder national team at the German championships on Timmendorfer Strand , then the previous year's winners in the quarter-finals Brink-Abeler / Jurich and took fourth place after defeats against Pohl / Rau and Goller / Ludwig . In the following two years, Geeske Banck started with Susanne Lahme . Banck / Lahme achieved seventh place on the FIVB tour in Acapulco in 2006 . A year later at the World Championships in Gstaad , the two Germans survived the preliminary round, but then lost 2-0 to their compatriots Brink-Abeler / Jurich in the round of 32. Shortly afterwards, Susi Lahme ended her career because of knee problems.

In October 2007 Geeske Banck started working with Anja Günther . At the first start of the two there was an excellent ninth place on the World Tour in Phuket , Thailand. Almost exactly one year later, the two Germans achieved their best position so far on the World Tour with the bronze rank again in Phuket. Further excellent placings were achieved in 2008 with reaching the final at the CEV Masters in The Hague and fifth place at the FIVB tournament in Dubai. Geeske Banck and Anja Günther achieved their best placement at the German championships in 2009, when they defeated the top favorites Goller / Ludwig in the semifinals and were only defeated in the final by Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmler . In 2010 Banck / Günther achieved seventh place at the Shanghai Open . In July 2011 Geeske Banck and Anja Günther separated. She played the rest of the beach season with changing partners, but with Kira Walkenhorst she won the Cologne Smart Beach Tour tournament straight away. In 2012, Banck / Walkenhorst became German runners-up . Then Banck / Walkenhorst reached seventh place at the Åland Open .

At the end of 2012, Geeske Banck ended her beach volleyball career and since then has been the state coach in the Schleswig-Holstein volleyball association.
