Jewel Timo is a German songwriter , singer and guitarist as well as a music producer for TV and film music .

Life

Jewel Timo learned to play the guitar at the age of nine, his role models were guitarists such as Chuck Berry , JJ Cale , Eric Clapton , Stevie Ray Vaughan and Robert Johnson . In addition to blues and rock 'n' roll musicians, Mark Knopfler in particular inspired him to play solo guitar in the following years . By trying to play Knopfler's guitar solos by ear, he learned to play solo. Hence the Jewel Timo developed typical fingerpicking - plectrum-Combination style. At the age of 16 he played with his father in a band for the first time in regular public appearances. Jewel Timo mentions soul musicians like James Brown , Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin as other musical influences of this time .

Jewel Timo gained greater fame through the use of his song Alive in the US television series The Vampire Diaries . His compositions and productions are widely used in the national and international film, television and advertising industries. The title Straight House from his first instrumental album Spicy Guitar Roots , a four-track tape recorder recording, was broadcast on the Oprah Winfrey Show in the USA, La Vida , a title from his solo debut album Jool's Diary was heard in a Mercedes commercial, DHL used his composition Cava Soul in a TV commercial in the UK.

His solo debut Jool's Diary has been released on two CDs, in 2005 as an archive music album including instrumental versions and on September 22, 2006 as an official sales CD.

Before his first own publication, he initiated a music project in 1998 in the Haus der Jugend Steilshoop , where he was employed as an educator. The result was a CD compilation on which 17 bands and solo artists from the Hamburg district of Steilshoop each published their own compositions. The music project was implemented in the youth center's in-house recording studio with the support of teachers and a sound engineer.

Since 1999 numerous songs and albums have been published on various production music labels such as Selected Sound, EMI Production Music GmbH, Uppm , Universal Music , APM Music, Black Is Blonde and Intervox. Jewel Timo often plays all the instruments on his recordings himself.

In 2010 he worked for the first time with several historical Motown musicians in Los Angeles and produced some live recordings together with Don Peake , in which James Gadson on drums, Freddy Washington on bass, Paulie Cerra on piano, Harlan Spector on Hammond organ and Jack Cook can be heard on the drummer. In 2012 he contributed songs to the soundtrack of the US movie Box of Shadows.

As a tour guitarist, he also played on radio and television tours alongside artists such as Marlon, Kim Sanders and Michael Sembello .

In 2016, Jewel Timo took part in the revision of the soundtrack of the ZDF co-production, Familie Braun . Jool takes on the composition and production of some of the tracks. The project wins at the end of 2017 u. a. the International Emmy Award. The debut EP Miss You by Voice of Germany winner Natia Todua was released on November 15, 2019 , for which Jool took over the coproduction. On the EP he also played slide guitars.
