Teresa Mersmann (born April 18, 1990 in Münster ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career indoor volleyball

In the hall, Teresa Mersmann played with the second team of USC Münster in the second division until 2013 and also had fifteen appearances in the youth national team. From 2014 to 2016 she played for league competitor Bayer 04 Leverkusen . In 2017 Mersmann had a short indoor comeback at the Bundesliga club USC Münster. In the 2018/19 season she was a permanent fixture in the USC Bundesliga squad.

Career beach volleyball

In beach volleyball, Teresa Mersmann became German U18 champion in 2006 alongside Mareen Terwege . In 2007 she finished fifth with Natalia Cukseeva at the U18 European Championships in Brno . In 2008 Mersmann and Laura Weihenmaier finished fifth at the U19 World Championships in The Hague . In the same year she won the German U19 championship with Christine Aulenbrock .

From 2009 Mersmann played with her club mate Cinja Tillmann . In their first season they finished ninth at the U20 European Championship in Kos . In 2011 they reached fifth place at the U23 European Championship in Porto . Mersmann / Tillmann were also able to establish themselves among the national leaders. So they reached ninth place at the German Championships in 2011 and won the bronze medal in 2012. At the Student World Cup in Maceió (BRA), the two made it to the knockout round, but had to give up there due to an illness of Mersmann and thus finished 17th. At the end of the 2012 season, Mersmann and Tillmann separated.

Since 2013 Mersmann played together with Isabel Schneider . At their first appearance on the FIVB World Tour in Anapa , Russia , Mersmann / Schneider took second place. This was followed by fourth in Durban and ninth in each of Xiamen and Phuket . They came ninth at the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan. On the CEV tour, Mersmann played four satellite tournaments and achieved first place (with Julia Großner ), second and third place, as well as fifth place (with Anika Krebs ). On the German Smart Beach Tour they won in Norderney and Binz, came second in St. Peter-Ording, third in Mannheim and Kühlungsborn and fifth in Hamburg. At the German Championships in Timmendorfer Strand they came in seventh.

On the FIVB World Tour 2014, Mersmann / Schneider achieved a fifth place ( Anapa ), a ninth place ( Fuzhou ) and a 17th place ( Puerto Vallarta ). At the Grand Slams in Berlin and Moscow they finished 25th. At the Smart Beach Tour they won the tournament in Cologne and came second in Münster and Nuremberg, and third in Binz. At the German championship they reached fifth place.

In 2015 Mersmann / Schneider won the CEV satellite tournaments in Molodetschno and Vaduz and became German runners-up . In 2016 they won the CEV Satellite tournament in Ankara and the Smart Super Cup in Hamburg. After a ninth place in the German Championship , the two parted ways.

In 2017 Mersmann played with Sandra Ittlinger . They won the Smart Beach Cup in Dresden and the Smart Super Cup in Hamburg. They also reached ninth place in the German championship .

From the end of 2017 to the end of 2018, Cinja Tillmann was her partner again. On the FIVB World Tour , Mersmann / Tillmann won the 1-star tournament in Baden, Austria, and the 3-star tournament in Tokyo in 2018. They won the Techniker Beach Tour in Münster, Nuremberg and Kühlungsborn. They finished third in the German championship .

In 2019 Mersmann concentrated on her studies and only started at a few mixed tournaments.
