MTV Stuttgart operates two facilities (Kräherwald sports complex and “Motiv” sports complex), has six sports halls of its own, six sports fields, a fitness studio and a heated outdoor pool with a sauna area and a restaurant.

Gymnastics

In 1885 Ludwig and Louis Jennewein, a member of the club, won the second edition of the German Gymnastics Festival . At the German Gymnastics Festival in 1928 , Emil Preiss was German champion in the all-around competition.

Well-known gymnasts were also the multiple German champions Erich and Theo Wied .

Today the MTV Stuttgart gymnastics teams are competing in the German Gymnastics League (DTL). The women's team with gymnasts like Kim Bui , Marie-Sophie Hindermann , Elisabeth Seitz and Tabea Alt won the German championship title in 2007, 2009, 2010 and from 2012 to 2019 , in 2007 and 2009 as part of the Stuttgart-Ulm gymnastics team founded in 2006 . The men's team emerged in 2010 from the Württembergische Kunstturnvereinigung (WKTV), which won the German championship seven times between 1987 and 2002. In 2014 the team around Thomas Andergassen and Sebastian Krimmer won the German championship title . In the following years it was no longer possible to build on these successes. In September 2018, the club announced the withdrawal of the men's team from the DTL.

volleyball

The volleyball department of MTV Stuttgart has been cooperating with TSV Georgii Allianz Stuttgart under the name VC Stuttgart in the women's youth performance area since April 2007 . The popular sport was still practiced in MTV. In 2013 the MTV took over the 140 members and staff of the VC for economic reasons. A volleyball academy was set up for this purpose. It was founded in parallel with the establishment of a federal base for the German Volleyball Association in Stuttgart.

The first and second women's teams play under the team name Allianz MTV Stuttgart in the 1st Volleyball Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga South . The beach volleyball duo Karla Borger / Britta Büthe also played for MTV Stuttgart.

basketball

The history of the basketball department of MTV Stuttgart 1843 e. V. is the story of two clubs , that of MTV Stuttgart and that of EK Stuttgart (Eichenkreuz Stuttgart).

In 1997 MTV basketball fell into a deep crisis. There was no management, no more coaches and hardly any teams registered. The men's and women's teams played in the district league and there were no prospects.

At the same time, the other inner city club in Stuttgart, EK Stuttgart, had a slightly different, but not more satisfactory, situation. The EK had been promoted to the regional league with the men's team and had no support from the main club with regard to this project. The picture in youth was similar to that of MTV: Hardly any coaches , hardly any young people and the situation got worse and worse.

So the two clubs decided to merge. The entire EK Stuttgart Basketball switched to MTV Stuttgart. Continuous development work followed under department head Eberhardt Dieter. In the youth sector, all age groups could again be filled. In the 2006/07 season there were four men's teams.

The first men's team rose to the 2nd basketball league in 2005 after many regional league years, but had to return to the regional league southwest-south a year later for technical reasons.

In the 2018/19 season, the first men's and women's teams will play in the regional league .

The home games of the first men's team take place in the Sporthalle West in Stuttgart-West .

Handball

The handball department of MTV Stuttgart was founded in 1920.

Table tennis

The men's team of the table tennis department played from 1958 to 1960 in the Oberliga, the then highest German division.

The women's team was one of the founding members of the table tennis Bundesliga in 1972 . From 1982 to 1987 she was again represented in the 1st Bundesliga. Then the team was withdrawn to the 2nd Bundesliga. The most famous player was Judith Stumper . After a further descent, in 1994 he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga, where the team was represented until 1998.

In the 2012/13 season the women's team played in the district league, the first men's team in the district class A.

Soccer

In 1944/45 the team was assigned to Gauliga Württemberg , season 3, where it met teams like VfB Stuttgart or SSV Reutlingen 05 . When the game was stopped on March 18, 1945, MTV Stuttgart had only played four games.

In the 2012/13 season the first men's team plays in the district league. The women's team is active in the regional league.

The youth is organized in the football academy of the MTV, which with over 600 players is one of the largest youth football departments in Germany and maintains close cooperation with VfB Stuttgart (talent scouting and promotion).

The blind soccer team, under the leadership of coach Ulrich Pfisterer , who is also the coach of the German national blind soccer team, achieved first place in the blind soccer Bundesliga in the seasons 2009 to 2011 as well as 2013 and 2014 and leads the league's all -time table on.

athletics

The athletics department of MTV Stuttgart is mainly concerned with promoting young talents and has already produced top athletes like the shot putter Sven Eric Hahn.
