Kim Bui (born January 20, 1989 in Tübingen ) is a German competitive gymnast .

Life

She is the daughter of a Vietnamese and a Laotian . Bui trained in the art turn-Forum Stuttgart, a national training center for gymnastics . Her trainer is Tamara Khokhlova , her home club is TSG Tübingen , in the Bundesliga she does gymnastics for the Stuttgart gymnastics team , and from 2011 for MTV Stuttgart .

The floor specialist drew attention to herself for the first time in 2004 when she finished fifth in a World Cup (DTB Cup). In 2005 Bui took part in world championships for the first time . At the German Championships in the same year, she took third place on the uneven bars , jump and floor machines , and fourth in the all- around competition.

In 2006 Kim Bui became the first German champion on the ground . She also came second in the jump , on the balance beam and in the all- around competition. In the following year she finished third (jump), four (all-around), five (floor and uneven bars) and six (balance beam) at the German championships.

After her first participation in 2005, Bui was also able to qualify for the World Gymnastics Championships in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2011 . In 2006 she was 16th with the team, a year later the German gymnasts took tenth place.

As at the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart , Kim Bui was only allowed to take part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing as a substitute gymnast, although she was German champion in jumping and on the ground and vice-champion on uneven bars .

2009 was Buis' most successful year to date: At the German championships she landed on the podium in all five competitions. She became German champion in all-around, on the ground and in the jump , took second place on the uneven bars and came third on the beam . She also finished the 2009 World Championships as the best German (23rd place in the all-around competition) and won her first World Cup victory on the uneven bars at the DTB Cup in the Stuttgart Porsche Arena .

On February 16, 2010, Kim Bui tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee. At the European Championships 2011 in Berlin, Bui won bronze on the uneven bars . At the 2011 World Championships in Tokyo, she won sixth place with the German national team, which qualified them for the 2012 Olympic Games . At the European Championships in 2012, Bui was fourth on the uneven bars and eighth with the team. In London, the team was ninth at the Olympic Games. In 2014 Bui contributed to fourth place for the German team at the European Championships in Sofia . In the same year she finished ninth with the team at the world championships in Nanning and was 31st in the all- around competition. After winning the German championship in all- around competitions and on the floor, she was consequently voted " Gymnast of the Year 2014" by the gymnastics magazine Leon in 2014. In May 2015, Bui tore another cruciate ligament and injured the inner ligament (this time in the right knee).

In the fall of 2009, Kim Bui began studying technical biology at the University of Stuttgart in addition to her career as a gymnast .
