Theo Wied

Theodor "Theo" Wied (born February 6, 1923 in Münster am Neckar , † July 24, 1995 in Stuttgart ) was a German gymnast .

Life

Theo Wied was the twin brother of the gymnast Erich Wied . They both graduated from law school .

As a member of the Navy , he reached 4th place in the twelve-fight at the German gymnastics and game championships in Nuremberg in 1942 and came second in the all-around competition with 190.9 points at the 1943 German gymnastics championships in Passau .

In 1948 he became German gymnastics champion in eight combat . At the German Gymnastics Championships in Bochum in 1951 , he was German champion in parallel bars and achieved 3rd place in the overall ranking with a total of 115.5 points. Like his twin brother, he took part in the Olympic Games in 1952 and 1956 . His best Olympic placement in 1956 was 4th place in the jump . The brothers also took part in the 1952 German warriors' trip to South America . In 1953 he was third in the international Jahn memorial gymnastics on the Berlin Waldbühne in front of 12,000 spectators. In 1956, together with Werner Finkel, Heini Kurrle and Karl Schweizer, they won the German team championship in artistic gymnastics for the Gymnastics and Sports Association Münster (TSV Münster, formerly TSVgg Stuttgart-Münster ).
