The Polizeisportverein (PSV) Köln eV is a popular sports club from Cologne .

PSV Köln was founded in October 1922 by nine police officers after they had won a trophy in a comparison competition to which they had been invited by what was then PSV Essen.

The foundation of PSV Köln served to combine professional and leisure sports. For the amateur status it was important at the time that the association also opened up to non-police officers. A separate department was opened for each of the recorded sports. Traditionally, the respective departments were headed exclusively by police officers as chairmen and this is still the case today. Cycling
