Melanie Gernert (born May 17, 1987 in Forst (Lausitz) ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career

at the Smart Beach Tour 2011 in Cologne

Gernert played her first national tournaments between 2004 and 2006 with Juliane Plepp and Sophie Schellenberger . In 2007 she and her new partner Maria Wendisch came ninth in the German championship . She achieved the same result with Liane Lehmann at the U21 World Cup in Modena . In the following year she repeated the ninth place with Wendisch in Timmendorfer Strand . With Jana Köhler she was fifth in the U23 European Championship in Espinho . In 2009 she played with Tatjana Zautys and came back to ninth place in the German championship. She achieved a better result in 2010 when she was fifth on the side of Hella Jurich . In 2011 Gernert started with Kira Walkenhorst . Later she reached the finals of the Cologne tournament with Anja Günther in the national series and won in Essen. At the CEV Masters in Niechorze she was fourth with Rieke Brink-Abeler . Since Brink-Abeler's actual partner Angelina Grün was injured, the new duo also played at the European Championships in Kristiansand , where they lost to the Belgians Gielen / Mouha in the round of 16 . With Anja Günther, Gernert took fifth and ninth place at the German championships in 2011 and 2012.

After a break in 2013, Gernert returned to her former partner Tatjana Zautys in 2014 and again finished ninth in the German championship. In 2015 Gernert played with Anika Krebs by default and won the Smart Beach Cup in Jena . With Elena Kiesling she won the Smart Super Cup in Kühlungsborn . At the German championship, Gernert / Krebs took ninth place. In 2016 Gernert played again at the side of Zautys, won the Smart Beach Cups in Duisburg and Dresden and came fourth in the German championship . In 2017, Gernert / Zautys became German runners-up . Gernert / Kiesling have been playing on the national Techniker Beach Tour since 2018 and have achieved numerous top spots. At the German championships they finished fifth in 2018 and ninth in 2019 .

In June / July 2020 Gernert took part in the Beach League with Sarah Schulz and lost in the final to Karla Borger and Svenja Müller .

In the hall, Gernert played for Dresdner SC before moving to VC Olympia Berlin .
