The volleyball department of the Dresdner SC was founded in 1990. The first women's team plays in the Bundesliga and was five times German champion , six times DVV Cup winner and once Challenge Cup winner at European level.

The chief trainer is Alexander Waibl . He is supported by assistant coaches Wojciech Paleszniak and Lukasz Zarebikiewics as well as scout Konstantin Bitter. The team doctors Tino Lorenz and Attila Höhne as well as the physiotherapists Christoph Hartmann and Marcus Hippe are responsible for the medical care. The chairman of the board of Dresdner SC (volleyball) is Jörg Dittrich. The managing director of DSC 1898 Volleyball GmbH is Sandra Zimmermann. The mascot is called Burny.

The Dresden women have played in the first division since 1997. In 1999 they became German champions for the first time. In the 2007 season they were able to win the title again. In the 2007/08 season they were runner-up. In the 2008/09 season they reached third place and fourth place in 2010 . In 2011 , 2012 and 2013 the Dresden women were only subject to the Schweriner SC in the final of the play-offs and were each runner-up. In the 2013/14 season , the team celebrated their third championship title with three wins in the championship final against the Rote Raben Vilsbiburg . In the 2014/15 season , the Dresden women won their fourth championship title with three wins in the championship final against Allianz MTV Stuttgart . In the following season you could defend the title after five finals against the same opponent.

DVV Cup

The Dresdner SC managed the double in 1999 with the cup victory. Three years later they won the DVV Cup for the second time and also won the Supercup . In the 2007 and 2009 seasons, the Dresden SC was runner-up in the cup. In the following year, 2010, they won the cup again. With a 3-2 final victory over Allianz MTV Stuttgart , the Dresden women won the DVV Cup for the fourth time in 2016. In 2018 they won the cup for the fifth time with a 3-0 final against 1. VC Wiesbaden .

European Cup

As German champions, the Dresden women played in the Challenge Cup for the second time in the 2007/08 season after 2002/03 . After a bye in the first round, they prevailed with two 3-2 wins against Radnički NIS Petrol Belgrade . With further victories in the third round against Universidad de Burgos and in the round of 16 against Panathinaikos Athens they reached the quarter-finals. After a first leg loss to Hotel Cantur Las Palmas they turned the game in the decisive set. At the Final Four in Bursa , the DSC won the game for third place against the Romanian team Știința Bacău after the 3-0 in the semifinals against Vakıfbank Güneş Sigorta İstanbul .

In 2010 , the Dresdner SC held the Final Four of the Challenge Cup for the first time in its club history as one of the four semi-finalists . The Dresden sports club was able to prevail in Dresden against Asterix Kieldrecht from Belgium (2nd place) and Galatasaray Istanbul from Turkey (3rd place) and won the Challenge Cup 2010. In the 2011/12 season, the DSC played in the Champions League , in which they were eliminated in the round of 16 against VK Dynamo Kazan .
