history

The volleyball department of Alemannia Aachen was founded in 1960. Their men's team, which competed in the 3rd League West in the last few seasons , became German champions in 1961 . The first women's team has been represented in the Bundesliga since the 2008/09 season .

2003/04 to 2007/08 season - time in the second division and promotion

Since the 2003/04 season, Alemannia played in the second Bundesliga North. She finished this season in seventh place. She was able to confirm this position the following year. In the DVV Cup, the team lost to Bundesliga club VfB 91 Suhl in the round of 16 .

For the 2005/06 season, three new players, Janneke Ernste from the Netherlands , Sarah Wolnizki from Leverkusen and Kasia Trojan from their own second team, were signed up. The team had left Ilka Semmler (studying in Berlin), Urte Podzuweit (end of career), Jule Krumbeck (beach volleyball), Moni Koch and Martha Archontoglou (both 2nd team). Audrey Hervel , Tania van den Berghen , Esther Stahl , Lis Zernickow , Kristina Fuhrmann , Yvonne Altenhof and Bina Rollersbroich remained from last year's squad . Aachen also took seventh place in the second Bundesliga North in the 2005/06 season.

The newcomers for the 2006/07 season were Cecile Casin , Marjorie Pirenne , Diana Berkemeyer and Stefanie Hüttermann . Rollersbroich, Stahl, Hervel, Flemig , Sarah Wolnizki and Zernickow remained in the squad . The Aachen team took third place in the second Bundesliga North in the 2006/07 season.

In the 2007/08 season, except for the setter Hervel (to Belgium to Datovoc Tongeren ), all players could be held. In addition, there was the setter Hindriksen from league competitor SCU Emlichheim , the American outside attacker Lauren Goins and middle blocker Alexandra Preiß from the first division club Bayer Leverkusen . After five years in the second division north, the Aacheners made it to the first division this season with a series of 17 wins in a row and only one lost game. In the round of 16 of the DVV Cup they lost 3-0 against VC Wiesbaden .

Season 2008/09 to today - First Bundesliga

The squad for the 2008/09 season for the first Bundesliga consisted of 13 players. After the promotion, six players, including the beach volleyball duo Flemig / Hüttermann, left the club. Undertake could Jennifer Schrader from USC Münster II , Malgorzata Plebanek from Poland, Anna Rönnbäck of Evreux Volley-Ball , Matilda Wikander of AEL Limassol , Jana Franziska Poll of SCU Emlichheim , Maren Cloot and Margit Klauza .

Reinhard Strauch initially took over Luc Humblet's duties as an interim trainer in March. In April, Stefan Falter took over the position of assistant coach and was hired as head coach for the next season. Alemannia was able to secure relegation with 13th place in the first Bundesliga in the first year. In the DVV Cup , the climber was eliminated in the round of 16 at TSV Sonthofen with 1: 3.

The squad of the first division team for the 2009/10 season consisted of 13 players. Goins ended her career and Zernickow switched to the second team, Plebanek left the club. Anika Brinkmann from USC Münster, Kira Walkenhorst from Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Brynn Maurer from regional league team TV Villingen , Laura Feldmann from RC Sorpesee and Christina Speer from the USA were newly signed . During the season, Rita Liliom from La Rochette Volley joined the team. The team finished twelfth in the Bundesliga. In the DVV Cup , the Alemannia failed in the qualifying game at SC Potsdam .

In the 2010/11 Bundesliga season , Alemannia competed with ten players. Aachen had to do without Schräder (switched to the second team) and Hindriksen (switched to VfB 91 Suhl) this season. Preiß ended her active career and Stahl, who had been with Alemannia since 2001, did not extend her contract. Ciara Michel , Karolína Bednářová , Michaela Balej (from Heutink Pollux ) and Lucy Wicks (from Quimper Volley ) could be engaged . At the end of the season, Aachen finished ninth in the Bundesliga. In the DVV Cup they qualified for the round of 16 with a 3-0 win at SV Sinsheim . After another 3-0 success in the second round at the second division SG Rotation Prenzlauer Berg , they were eliminated in the quarter-finals with 0: 3 against TSV Sonthofen. Nevertheless, reaching the quarter-finals was the greatest success in the club's history in this competition.

In the following season the team consisted of eleven players. Newcomers were the national player Angelina Grün , next to Anke Borowikow (from VC Wiesbaden ), the Hungarian national player Barbara Dégi (from Köniz / Switzerland), Simone Legerstee (from VT Aurubis Hamburg), Karen Lißon (from VCO Dresden ) and Linda Büsscher (from SCU Emlichheim). The British internationals Wicks and Michel, Poll, Feldmann and Captain Bednářová stayed in the team. Speer (to VfB Suhl), the Hungarian national player Liliom (Mielec, Poland), Balej, Wolnizki (studies, FC Junkersdorf ) and Walkenhorst (beach volleyball career , SG FdG Herne). The Bundesliga season 2011/12 graduating Aachen with the tenth place. In the DVV Cup, Aachen lost 3-0 at USC Münster in the round of 16.

In the 2012/13 season the team consisted of eleven players. The team have Amanda Dowdy leave Büsscher, Feldmann, Michel, Poll and Legerstee. Undertake could Karine Muijlwijk , Laura Weihenmaier , Kimika Rozier , Nikolina Kovačič , Angie Bland and Paulina Biranowska . As eleventh in the Bundesliga season, the team was only able to avoid relegation due to a lack of promoted players. In the DVV Cup, Aachen lost 3-2 to Wiesbaden in the quarter-finals.

After moving to PTSV Aachen, the 2013/14 Ladies in Black experienced the most successful season in their club history with an almost completely new squad. In the DVV Cup, the team was only defeated by the eventual cup winner Rote Raben Vilsbiburg in the quarterfinals with 16:18 in the tie break. In the Bundesliga , Aachen reached the play-offs for the first time. In the semifinals, the team achieved their first home win in history against the new champions Dresdner SC , who only prevailed after three duels.

In the 2014/15 Bundesliga season , the Ladies in Black again qualified for the playoffs and ended up in sixth place. In the DVV Cup they made it to the final for the first time after victories against the second team from Allianz MTV Stuttgart , against VT Aurubis Hamburg and against defending champion Rote Raben Vilsbiburg . They only lost the final in the Gerry Weber Stadium against Bundesliga rivals Stuttgart in the tie-break. In the 2015/16 season, Aachen lost to SC Potsdam in the pre-playoffs of the Bundesliga . In the 2015/16 DVV Cup , however, they reached the semifinals, in which the Dresdner SC prevailed.

After financial problems arose during the 2015/16 season, the Ladies in Black filed for bankruptcy on April 8, 2016. On June 1, the club announced that the team could continue to play in the Bundesliga. Because of the bankruptcy application, the team had to be completely reorganized. In the 2016/17 season, the Ladies in Black had to admit defeat in the cup quarter-finals against Potsdam. In the Bundesliga they reached the playoff quarter-finals as eighth of the table in the main round, with the home game taking place in the Steengoed Arena in Maaseik, Belgium , due to the league's requirements . Ultimately, the Schweriner SC prevailed. In the 2017/18 DVV Cup, the Ladies in Black were eliminated in the round of 16 at Allianz MTV Stuttgart . Against the same opponent they also lost the playoff semifinals after they finished the Bundesliga season in fifth place and prevailed in the quarterfinals against 1. VC Wiesbaden . For the 2018/19 season, the Ladies in Black were able to play their way to 6th place in the volleyball Bundesliga and sensationally defeated Dresdner SC in the quarter-finals of the playoffs . Against Allianz MTV Stuttgart, however, as in the previous year, it was the last stop and it was difficult to assert oneself.

The Ladies in Black will have to temporarily move to a new venue outside of the city for the 2020/21 season, as the hall on Neuköllner Straße has to be renovated due to a leaky roof and no other hall in Aachen is suitable. The Ladies in Black will probably move to the Arena Kreis Düren , the venue of the men's Bundesliga club SWD Powervolleys Düren .

European Cup (CEV Challenge Cup)

In the 2017/18 season, the Ladies in Black managed to qualify for the European Cup by finishing third in the Bundesliga. In Aachen this invitation was accepted. For the 2018/19 season they also took this chance and started the CEV Challenge Cup with a bye. Then it went to Portugal , more precisely to Familiçao . There they won the first game 3-0 and also defeated the Portuguese team 3-2 in the second leg. In the 1/8 final it went to Slovenia to Calcit Volley Kamnik , where however one had to accept a defeat. In the second leg it was barely enough for the 1/4 final, although the Slovenian team could be defeated in the tiebreaker. This season, however, they were able to qualify again for the Challenge Cup with a 3rd place in the volleyball Bundesliga and this invitation and challenge was accordingly accepted again.

More teams

The second women's team played after relegation from the regional league in the 2008/09 season in the major league and rose again to the then third-highest division in the 2009/10 season and has held the class since then. The third and fourth team played together in the association league in 2009/10, the third team being promoted to the major league and asserting itself there in the following season and the fourth team being relegated to the regional league, but being promoted back to the association league in 2011.

The men had been back in the regional league with the first team since the 2009/10 season and qualified for the 3rd League West in 2012 . The second men's team plays as SG Aachen-Düren in the regional league.

The over 37 seniors of Alemannia were West German Champion and German Vice Champion in 2009, West German Vice Champion and German Champion in 2010 and West German Champion and German Vice Champion again in 2011.

History of the Post Sports Club 1925 Aachen eV

The Post Sports Association was founded as a self-help facility for employees of the Deutsche Reichspost in Aachen in 1925 and is one of the oldest Post Sports Associations in Germany after Post SV Berlin . The club colors of the Post Sports Club were blue / yellow.

The post office acquired part of the old Tivoli estate on the former Sandkaulsteinweg 205 , today's Krefelder Straße ( B57 ). This area was previously used by the Alemannia Aachen football club . During this time there was the Groß Tivoli restaurant on the estate, which also served the club as a clubhouse. In addition to the already existing soccer field ( lawn ), an ash court and clay courts as well as changing rooms with a fitness hall were created. The soccer cinder pit as well as the tennis clay courts were each given a floodlight system .

Due to the 4-lane expansion of Krefelder Straße in the 1970s, the old clubhouse had to give way and a new building with a restaurant, a hall and changing rooms for the tennis department and a judo hall as well as a parking lot were built. In addition, tennis courts with synthetic surfaces were laid out. In addition, the association received a small piece of wood from the old estate from the city. A fitness trail was laid out here, but it became orphaned after a few years due to lack of interest. At that time, the multi-disciplinary club was the club with the largest number of members in Aachen, with, among other things, boxing , judo , chess , swimming , tennis and football . The soccer department no longer exists, although successes were particularly evident in youth soccer in the second half of the 1970s. The club's board of directors favored the emerging tennis sport and made more and more terrain available to it. In the tennis competitions, however, the club was never able to assert itself against the clubs TK Kurhaus Aachen and TK Blau-Weiss Aachen . Klaus Gallwe and Mario Guedes also boxed as amateurs for the postal sports club during this time . Guedes was Middle Rhine super heavyweight champion and Gallwe 1983 German heavyweight champion . In the following year he switched to the professional camp, Guedes took this step in 1985. Back then, the swimmers trained in the south swimming pool in the Burtscheid district .

1990 until today

In the 1990s, which was Postsportverein 1925 Aachen eV through the privatization of the German Post Office in post-telecom Sports Club 1925 Aachen eV renamed. With the construction of the new Tivoli football stadium in 2007, the PTSV received a replacement plot of land at Eulersweg 15 in Aachen. The former German professional boxer in light heavyweight , Achim John is head coach of the Boxabteilung. The boxing gym of the PTSV is located in the building of the former Rheinische needle factory , Reichsweg in the east quarter .

In 2013, the Alemannia volleyball teams joined the PTSV. Since the Neuköllner Strasse sports hall does not meet the requirements of the volleyball Bundesliga , the PTSV is planning to build a multifunctional hall in cooperation with the ALRV on the site of the former police headquarters in the Soers sports park .

Today the Post-Telekom sports club has 15 departments with around 3,500 members, making it one of the largest clubs in the region. On June 22, 2020, Chairman Dr Schidlowski resigned from the Executive Board after 22 years as he no longer ran for election. Walter Halmes is the new chairman .
