Achim John

Achim John (born May 20, 1961 in Aachen ) is a former German professional boxer and former international German light heavyweight champion .

Amateur boxing

John started boxing at the age of nine. With the pupils he was Middle Rhine Master and for three consecutive years West German Master. At sixteen he was German youth champion. As an amateur, John played 180 fights. He had missions in the German junior national team and took part in the military world championships. He won his eight league fights. John's greatest success as an amateur was winning the points over Manfred Zielonka .

Professional career

The first professional light heavyweight fight was played by John on April 1, 1995 in Aachen, he won on points. On April 12, 1997 he fought against Silvio Meinel and lost on points, in the sixth round he suffered a broken rib. At the age of 36, John won the fight for the international German championship against Mario Lupp. The fight was in DSF transfer

Trainer

Achim John is the head coach of the PTSV Aachen ; it led Max Keller (U19) in 2009 and Marven Lennertz (U21) in 2008 and 2009 to the title of German champion in Olympic boxing. Max Pilz, who was Middle Rhine Champion in 2010 and won gold at a nations tournament in Denmark, also won a title.
