Johanna Antoinette Petronella "Saskia" van Hintum (born April 24, 1970 in Vught , North Brabant ) is a former Dutch volleyball player and today's trainer.
Career as a player
Van Hintum began her volleyball career at home VVC Vught, to which she returned in between in later years. From 1991 to 1993 and 1996/97 she played in the German Bundesliga at CJD Berlin , with whom she was German champion and two German cup winners . She also won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1993 . With the Dutch national team she took part in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , where she finished fifth. In 1997 van Hintum moved to Italy, where she played for Cavagrande Messina in Serie A2 . A year later, the setter went to the A1 series for Medinex Reggio Calabria , with which she won the Italian Cup in 2000. From 2000 to 2002 van Hintum played in Belgium for Fortis Herentals .
Career as a trainer
Since 2003 van Hintum has been a trainer in her home country, both indoors and in beach volleyball . She was initially responsible for the Dutch national junior team and also worked for AMVJ Rijnmond and Sliedrecht Sport . In 2006 she made her first acquaintance with beach volleyball and worked in the Dutch national beach volleyball team from 2009 to 2012. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , she was the trainer of the Dutch women's duos Keizer / Van Iersel and Van Gestel / Meppelink . Then van Hintum trained again the Dutch indoor volleyball youth in the talent center Papendal Arnhem . At the European Summer Olympic Youth Festival 2013 in Utrecht she took the training oath. In 2015 and 2016 she was also assistant coach of the Dutch women's national team under Giovanni Guidetti . Since 2016 van Hintum has been training the German Bundesliga club Ladies in Black Aachen . With the club she reached the quarter-finals in the Bundesliga playoffs and in the DVV Cup 2016/17 in the 2016/17 season . A year later she was third in the German championship with Aachen . In 2018 she also worked as an assistant trainer for the German national team and took part in the World Cup in Japan in this capacity . In the 2018/19 season she reached the semifinals with Aachen in the 2018/19 DVV Cup and in the Bundesliga playoffs . She was also active in the Challenge Cup . She has also been the coach of the Swiss women's national team since the end of 2019. In March 2020 van Hintum ended her engagement in Aachen.
