The DVV-Pokal is the national cup competition of German volleyball . The organizer is the German Volleyball Association (DVV). The finals have been played in the SAP Arena in Mannheim since 2016 . The current title holders in 2020 are the Berlin Recycling Volleys for men and Dresdner SC for women.

Current mode

The Bundesliga teams are automatically qualified for the round of 16. The winners of the qualification are also in this first main round. The qualification is played out in eight regional competitions (north, north-west, north-east, west, east, south-west, south-east, south), the winners of which play out the participants in the main round. The competition will continue in a knockout system until the final. In the first two rounds, the team from the lower class has home rights. The teams of the VC Olympia Berlin , in which the junior national teams play, do not take part in the DVV Cup.

history

The SAP Arena is the current venue for the finals

The DVV Cup has been held since 1973. Its East German counterpart was the FDGB Cup under the direction of the German Volleyball Association of the GDR (DSVB), which was held between 1953 and 1991.

From 2006 to 2015 the finals took place in the Gerry Weber Stadium in Halle (Westphalia) . In April 2015 the DVV announced that there was a new venue. The finals have been taking place in the SAP Arena in Mannheim since February 28, 2016 . In March 2018, the German Volleyball Association, the Volleyball Bundesliga and the operators of the SAP Arena agreed to extend the two-year contract by two more years until 2020. The contract, which expired in 2020, was extended in February of that year to at least 2025.
