DVV Cup 2020/21
The 2020/21 season in the DVV-Pokal should start with the round of 16 on 7./8. November 2020 and end with the finals on February 28, 2021 in the SAP Arena in Mannheim . The defending champions are Berlin Recycling Volleys for men and Dresdner SC for women.
mode
Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany, the Volleyball Bundesliga and the German Volleyball Association have decided to make changes to the mode of the cup competition for the 2020/21 season. This season, only the teams from the top leagues will take part. The usual regional cups with the second and third division teams are therefore omitted. In addition, this time the competition will be held in a fixed tournament tree. There was therefore only one draw before the round of 16 and not after each round. The draw took place on June 12, 2020. The defending champion and three other teams are set for the quarter-finals, while the remaining teams compete in the second round (some with bye ). Because of the subsequent Bundesliga licensing, the men from TSV Unterhaching will not take part in the cup.
The teams that are seeded for the quarter-finals in addition to the defending champion are each the best-ranked team in the last Bundesliga season at the time the season ended. For men it is the Berlin Recycling Volleys , United Volleys Frankfurt , VfB Friedrichshafen and WWK Volleys Herrsching , for women it is SSC Palmberg Schwerin , Allianz MTV Stuttgart , SC Potsdam and the Rote Raben Vilsbiburg .
