Season course

After all favorites had prevailed in the men's round of 16, the Bundesliga was among themselves. Runner-up Düren failed again in the quarter-finals against Moers, who then prevailed against Berlin and reached the final as in the previous year. Friedrichshafen won the final 3-1 after a 28:30 in the first set and thus secured one of three titles in the 2006/07 season.

Erfurt was the only non-Bundesliga team to reach the women's quarter-finals. The regional winner East benefited from a bye, as TSV Spandau, who had been planned as an opponent, had withdrawn its team. There was a 3-0 defeat for the second division as well as for the other three losers. In the final, the two best teams of the Bundesliga season faced each other. Schwerin defended his title 3-1 against Dresden and thus prevented the Saxons double in the 2006/07 season.
