history
The predecessor club SC Leipzig was able to win the European championship and 19 times the national championship title of the GDR , making it the most successful club from East Germany. After its dissolution in 1993, the volleyball players moved to VfB Leipzig . In 2000 they founded the new club VV Leipzig, which merged with the neighboring VC Markranstädt for the 2006/07 season. National players like Mark Siebeck and Marcus Popp played in Leipzig as did the later professional beach volleyball player Eric Koreng . After the club went bankrupt in March 2009, all gaming rights were transferred to the newly founded club LE Volleys .
Bundesliga
In its premiere season, the new club reached the playoff quarter-finals, where it was eliminated against the eventual champions VfB Friedrichshafen . In the 2007/08 season, Leipzig lost the quarter-finals against Moers as sixth in the table. In the following, economically difficult season, it was only 11th place with 7 wins and 17 defeats, which led to relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga South , in which the first team of the successor club LE Volleys has played since then .
DVV Cup
In the 2006/07 season, the VCL was eliminated in the semi-finals against VfB Friedrichshafen. In the round of 16 of the 2007/08 season, the Leipziger were subject to Moerser SC .
