The main sport was initially football. At the beginning of 1949 the association had 238 members, in 1953 a temporary high of 280 people was registered. The most successful athletes of the club are the volleyball players. The first women's team rose to the second division for the first time in 1990 with the following squad: Ute Kemperdiek-Jansen, Heike Reinecke, Manuela Hoffmann, Inge Neubauer, Sonja Nyhuis, Anja Schlagelambers, Maike Tallen, Ulla Rakers and Claudia Rakers . Christian Stebel was the coach. Since then, the top team of the SCU has always played either in this class or in the first floor of German volleyball. In the first division, the women from the entire municipality served in the seasons 1998/99, 2000/01, 2001/02 and 2004/05. On May 1 , 2005, the sporting descent could be avoided by a 3-0 victory at 1. VC Wiesbaden , but the club management had already decided beforehand not to apply for a license for the coming season.

In the next two game years, the team reached the runner-up in the second division north, in the following seasons, the SCU was twice fourth and once sixth. In the 2010/2011 season , the team from the town on the Vechte took seventh place, a year later the SCU women improved by one position. In the 2012/13 game year , a further increase was achieved by reaching third place. The team from the Grafschaft Bentheim finished fourth in the 2013/14 season , the following year the team came fifth. In the 2016 final ranking, the women from Emlichheim were in seventh place.

The department head attaches particular importance to the training of its own offspring, as evidenced by several German youth championships and successful athletes such as Andrea Berg , Anika Brinkmann and the hundred-time national player Johanna Reinink , who began their careers in the joint community, as well as Claudia Volkers , who never joined the club from Lower Saxony has left. Further examples are the former youth national player Bianca Meyerink , who moved to Tornado Geesteren in the Netherlands after her two-year engagement with her hometown club in 2014 and the national player Jennifer Geerties , who continued her career at VC Olympia Berlin , then played for the Rote Raben Vilsbiburg and since The 2014/15 season goes online for Schweriner SC .

Women I.

team

The club started the 2015/16 season with a slightly different squad . The only newcomer was Ina Gosen from her own fourth team. In contrast, there were the departures of the American Juliana Crum and last year's team captain Dina Kwade, who was available as a stand-by player.

Michael Lehmann remained head coach, Claudia Volkers continued to be his assistant coach. The team received medical care from the physiotherapists Julia Raterink and Arne Scholten. Manager Norbert Bußmann took care of the organizational issues. Heino Konjer was responsible for marketing. Both were supported by the office manager, Silke Reuring.
