Jennifer Janiska (* 5. April 1994 in Nordhorn as Jennifer Geerties ) is a German volleyball -Nationalspielerin.

Career

Jennifer Geerties started playing volleyball at SCU Emlichheim when she was ten . In the 2009/10 season they took fourth place in the second Bundesliga North with the club from Lower Saxony . The outside attacker then switched to the VC Olympia Berlin base team . In the first season she was always part of the starting line-up except for one double match day, including one time as Libera in the 1: 3 defeat against TSV Rudow in 1888 . In the game against her former club Emlichheim, she was the captain on the field. She also took on this position in the U18 national team, which finished fourth at the 2011 European Championships in Ankara . Geerties was honored as the best point player of the tournament. Subsequently, the Berliner was nominated as the only U18 player for the U20 national team's World Cup qualification, in which the German team failed because of Russia. At the U18 World Cup, which was also held in Ankara, the captain led her team to fifth place with a 3-1 win over Brazil.

In the first three games of the 2011/12 Bundesliga season , Geerties was absent due to injury. At the home game of VC Olympia against 1. VC Wiesbaden , she was in the squad for the first time and came to her first brief appearance in the first division. After a bulging disc had already been found in February 2012 , Geerties decided to have an operation despite the impending end of his career. Then the outside attacker became a regular player at the VC Olympia in the 2012/13 season. She also came to her first appearances in the senior national team . With the DVV selection, she won the Europaliga 2013 and made it to the final at the subsequent European Championship in Germany .

For the 2013/14 season Geerties moved to the Rote Raben Vilsbiburg and was a regular there too. With the club from Lower Bavaria she won the DVV Cup in the final against the VolleyStars Thuringia . A few weeks later she was also German runner-up . With the national team she reached the final of the Europa League in 2014 and finished ninth at the World Cup in Italy .

Then the outside attacker moved from Vilsbiburg to league competitor Schweriner SC . In their first season in Schwerin, the team reached the playoff semi-finals. In the Challenge Cup , they also took third place. At the 2015 European Championships , Geerties came fifth with Germany. The 2015/16 Bundesliga season ended for her and Schweriner SC again in the semi-finals. At the European level there was again a third place, this time in the CEV Cup . In the 2016/17 season Geerties became German champion for the first time with Schwerin. She was able to repeat this success with the Schwerin women in the 2017/18 season . In 2019 she won the DVV Cup with Schwerin. Then Geerties played for one season in Italy with Imoco Volley Conegliano . In 2020 she returned to the German Bundesliga for Dresdner SC .

Private

Jennifer Geerties and Bianca Meyerink were the first two athletes to be entered in the Golden Book of the Emlichheim community.
