The 1st VC Stralsund (full name: 1st Volleyball Club Stralsund eV ) is a volleyball club from Stralsund . The club has around 150 members who play in four adult, six youth and one leisure team.

The most successful team is the first women's team to be promoted to the second division in the 2010/11 season , to which the team already belonged in 2008/09. The team has been running under the name Stralsunder Wildcats since September 2013 .

history

The association was founded in 1995. The founding members were previously organized in various Stralsund multidisciplinary clubs such as TSV 1860 Stralsund and ESV Lok Stralsund. The declared aim of founding the club was to bundle the scattered volleyball departments of the Stralsund clubs.

The club played in the 2nd Bundesliga (North Season) for the first time in the 2008/09 season, but was relegated as the eleventh of twelve teams. In 2010, the team was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga again, to which the team has been a member since then.

Due to acute financial problems, the 1st VC Stralsund moved under the umbrella of PSV Stralsund in 2013 , but this collaboration was discontinued only a few months later.

The club's first women's team took first place in the 2nd Bundesliga North 2019/20 , which was canceled in March 2020. However, following a decision by the volleyball Bundesliga, there will be no champions this season.
