Career

Lia-Tabea Mertens was on the volleyball field for the first time at 1. VC Parchim , before she served for the second team of Schweriner SC in the 2. Bundesliga and also took part in the training of the first division team. After graduating from high school, she first completed a federal voluntary service in Stralsund, while there she played in the 2nd Bundesliga at 1. VC Stralsund . In 2014 the offer came from Suhl, where Mertens signed her first professional contract with the Volleystars Thuringia . In 2016, the player switched to league competitor 1. VC Wiesbaden

Professional

Mertens was accepted into the police service in October 2017, where, parallel to her career at VCW, she began training as a police officer in the sports promotion group of the Hessian police.
