The VfL Oythe is a sports club in Vechta district Oythe . The association was founded on June 7, 1947 and offers football , gymnastics , gymnastics , volleyball and health sports . Women's soccer

The women's soccer team has played in the Regionalliga Nord since 2006 . There the team was runner-up right away, but was 22 points behind the champions FFC Oldesloe 2000 . In the same season, the club took part in the DFB Cup for the first time. In the first round they lost against the second division FC Gütersloh 2000 with 0: 8. In the 2008/09 season , the team took part in the DFB Cup again and met the second division club 1. FC Union Berlin in the first round . The game was lost 3: 5 after extra time. In 2012, VfL was relegated from the regional league and a year later was passed through to the Landesliga Weser / Ems. After the new start, VfL Oythe surprisingly succeeded in promotion to the Lower Saxony West Oberliga in the first year. The runner-up from the regional league played in a relegation game in Barsinghausen against SVG Göttingen 07 and won there 2-1. In 2016, he was relegated to the state league again.

Men's soccer

The club participated in regular game operations in the 1947/48 season with a football team and an A youth team. Until 1966, the first team remained in the lowest class at the district level. Thanks to a committed board of directors, things got better from 1966. In 1970 he was promoted to the district class. In 1978 he was relegated to the district league. In 1981 she returned to the district class. 1995 followed the promotion to the district league. In 2003, after a playoff against FC Norden, they were promoted to the Weser-Ems regional league . In the 2009/10 season, the first men's team played in the Lower Saxony-West Oberliga , but rose as thirteenth in the table due to the introduction of the single-track Oberliga and played in the Weser-Ems regional league since 2010. There the Oyther were runner-up behind TuS Lingen in 2015 . Three years later, they were promoted to the Lower Saxony Oberliga, from which Oyther had to be relegated as the penultimate in the 2018/19 season . The season was overshadowed by the death of coach Paul Jaschke , who suffered a heart attack at an indoor tournament and later died as a result.

Stadion

The home games are played in the An der Hasenweide stadium in Vechta / Oythe. The stadium was rebuilt in summer 2009 after being promoted to the league. The stadium with a capacity for around 2,000 spectators has a covered grandstand for around 300 people.
