Geissorhiza delicatula is a plant from the family of the Iridaceae (Iridaceae).

description

They are 3 to 9, rarely up to 12 centimeters high, perennial, herbaceous plants . The tuber is round, asymmetrically flattened, has a diameter of 3 to 8 millimeters and is completely concentric in several layers. The shell is firm to soft, skinned brown and fragile.

The lower leaf is brown to transparent, membranous and occasionally clear. The three to six, upright to sickle-shaped leaves are 1.5 to 4.5 millimeters wide, sword-shaped to linear, often lying down and barely more than half as long as the stems . At least the lowest two or three leaves are basal, the upper ones are smaller and attach to the stem, the uppermost often resemble bracts and are 4 to 10 millimeters wide.

The stem is upright, simply or one to three-branched, in the latter case either from the base or the upper nodes of the stem. The inflorescence is a single, rarely to three-flowered spike , the bracts are 4 to 8 millimeters long; reddish around the edges, but membranous and dry on the upper part, the inner as long as the outer. The flowers are star-shaped and light purple, cream-colored on the throat and in the flower tube. This is 2 to 3 millimeters long, cylindrical and sunk into the bracts, the bracts are 7 to 12 millimeters long, 2.5 to 4.5 millimeters wide and vice versa egg-shaped. The stamens are 3 to 5 millimeters long, the anthers 2.5 to 3.5 millimeters long, the pollen yellow. The ovary is 1.5 to 3 millimeters long, the stylus is divided just before the top of the dust bag, the individual branches are about 1.5 millimeters long and bent back.

The capsule is lay 4 to 7 millimeters and narrowly inverted-ovoid.

Flowering time is from August to September in drier locations and from November to December at higher altitudes.
