The SG Eltmann is a sports club from Eltmann in Lower Franconia .

The club became known for its men's volleyball team, SG Eschenbacher Eltmann, which played in the first volleyball league from 2003 to 2009 . After the professional license went to VC Franconia in 2009 , the volleyball department decided to leave the main club in May 2010 and to found its own club, VC Eltmann . Since then, the club has consisted of the departments football , judo , bowling , fistball , athletics and gymnastics .

Volleyball men's team (as of: 2008/09 season)

The 2008-09 season roster consisted of 12 players. Seven outlets were compared to six additions.

Milan Marić, who previously looked after various clubs abroad, has been the head coach since 2000. His two assistant coaches were Tado Lehmann and Cornel Closca. The doctors Andreas Först and Luitgard Jensen as well as the physiotherapist Franz-Josef Zeiß took care of the medical care. The overall coordination was in the hands of Rolf Werner, who also takes care of sponsors. Peter Knieling was president of the entire association and managing director of Volleyball-Eltmann GmbH, which was founded in April 2008. Jan-Peter Solveen took over the management of the volleyball department. Ralf Väth had been the manager since September 2008, but the previous manager Bernd Hummerbrum, who took on an additional task, stayed with SG Eschenbacher Eltmann as a consultant. Bernhard Wegmann worked as a team manager. Volker Hensel was responsible for press relations.

Bundesliga

SG Eschenbacher Eltmann played in the Bundesliga from 2003 to 2009 and established itself through several participations in the play-offs. In the 2007/08 season , the Franks reached seventh place. After the insolvency of the club in the 2008/09 season, the decision was made to relocate the team from the small town of Eltmann to the greater Bamberg . For this purpose, the VC Franconia was founded in Bamberg , to which the SG Eltmann's playing rights were transferred.

DVV Cup

Eltmann made it into the quarter-finals several times in the DVV Cup . In the 2006/07 season, the SG was eliminated in the round of 16 against Moerser SC . In the 2007/08 season , Eltmann achieved the greatest success with qualifying for the semi-finals by winning against Netzhoppers Königs Wusterhausen (3: 1) and Generali Haching (3: 0). There they were defeated by evivo Düren with 0: 3.

European Cup

After the best placement in the 2005/06 season (4th place), Eltmann secured participation in the CEV Cup . Here the team retired in January 2007 despite two wins with a second place at the tournament in Kecskemét, Hungary.

Venue

The home games were played in the Georg-Schäfer-Halle in Eltmann. The sports hall has a capacity of around 1500 spectators. The average number of spectators at the home games was around 1000 visitors.
