Vanessa Agbortabi (born December 4, 1998 in Chemnitz ) is a German volleyball player . The outside attacker will play for SC Potsdam from 2020 after several positions in the Bundesliga .

Career

Agbortabi played in her youth at Berliner VV and from 2012 to 2016 at SG Rotation Prenzlauer Berg . With the "Volleyteam Berlin" (Spielgemeinschaft Rotation Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin Brandenburger Sportclub and Köpenicker SC ) the outside attacker was three times German youth champion.

In 2014 she moved to VC Olympia Berlin and played with the youth club in the Bundesliga. Since spring 2017, she has played for the Bundesliga club Rote Raben Vilsbiburg , initially with a second game right for young players. In the 2018/19 season she was one of the Red Ravens with whom she reached the playoff quarter-finals . Then she switched to the league competitor Ladies in Black Aachen . In the 2019/20 season she reached the quarter-finals of the DVV Cup and the European Challenge Cup with Aachen . When the Bundesliga season was canceled shortly before the playoffs, the Ladies in Black were in seventh place in the table. In the 2020/21 season Agbortabi will play for SC Potsdam .

Agbortabi has been appointed to the German youth and junior national teams since 2014. With the U18 national team, she reached sixth place at both the European Championships in Bulgaria and the World Championships in Peru in 2015. With the U19 national team, she reached seventh place at the 2016 European Championships in Hungary and Slovakia . In 2018 she was appointed to the senior national team for the first time in the Nations League .
