society

The existence of the Berliner Volleyballverein Vorwärts eV goes back to January 28, 1965. That day was the first time to practice, at that time in the gym of the Otto-Nagel-Oberschule in Berlin-Biesdorf. Ten girls and the trainer at the time, Eberhard Gnade, received one hour of training time from the school management.

In the 1970s, the volleyball section continued to develop. Successful participation in children's and youth spartakiads as well as in the GDR championship in 1975 prove this.

From 1983 the development of the BVV took off enormously, with new teams in the male youth sector being founded every year at the start of the school year. The training and competition hall has now become the sports hall of the Lessing secondary school in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde. For many years these teams determined the level of young men and won several championship titles and cup victories, sometimes playing under the name “Autotrans Berlin” for two years. In the then common district Spartakiades, which were held together with teams from the training centers, these teams took medal ranks.

In September 1983, the Otto-Nagel-Oberschule developed a first team in the leisure sector, which after four years also moved to Friedrichsfelde and triggered a real boom in the leisure sector.

On October 7, 1990, a general meeting agreed on the name "Berliner Volleyballverein Vorwärts".

Triggered by the animated series 'Mila-Superstar', the first female junior team came about in 1996, which triggered the next boom, now in the female sector.

BVV has had its own website since February 2001.

In 2005 the Berlin volleyball club Vorwärts celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Honorary chairman of BV Vorwärts is Eberhard Gnade.
