Angelina Green , now Angelina Hübner , (* 2. December 1979 in Dushanbe , Soviet Union , today Tajikistan ) is German Volleyball - national player and nine-time volleyball player of the year .

Career

The daughter of a former national youth volleyball player began her career in 1990 at VC Essen-Borbeck . Four years later she was appointed to the youth national team for the first time. In 1996, the outside hitter joined the Bundesliga USC Munster . In her first season she became German champions with her new club . In 1997 she made her debut in a tournament in Bremen in the senior national team . There she immediately became a regular player and top performer, so that at the age of 18 she experienced her first international tournament at the 1998 World Cup in Japan. However, the German team was eliminated in the preliminary round. The new national coach Lee Hee-wan , however, confirmed Greens outstanding position in the DVV team, which took fourth place at the European Championships in Italy and sixth place at the Olympic Games in Sydney a year later . In 2000 the fans voted "Grüni" for the first time as volleyball player of the year . She defended this title every year until 2008.

After the European Championship in Bulgaria , the German captain, who had been runner-up four times in a row with USC Münster and won the DVV Cup in 2000 , moved to the Italian league. With her new club, Volley Modena , she won the Italian Cup and the CEV Cup straight away . While the national team then disappointed at the World Cup in their own country, Grün continued their streak of success at club level and won the Supercup with Modena. After a successful European Championship in Turkey (3rd place), she moved to Foppapedretti Bergamo within Italy . With Bergamo she became Italian champion for the first time and also won the CEV Cup. For this achievement she received the "Oscar del Volley". In the following years she also won the Champions League twice (2005, 2007) and the Italian double (2006). Also in the national team that qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in the so-called “Miracle of Baku” , it continued to make positive headlines. In the 2006 World Cup, it was once again the best German player and was the scorer standings just five points behind awarded as best points Collector Turk Neslihan Demir . Nevertheless, as captain, she could not prevent her team from finishing only eleventh. For her outstanding performance in indoor volleyball, Angelina Grün received the volleyball award on the eve of the 2010 cup final in Halle, Westphalia, which has been awarded since 2006.

From 2010 Angelina Grün formed a beach volleyball duo with Rieke Brink-Abeler and also competed internationally in the sand. At the German championships in 2010 on Timmendorfer Strand they came fourth. After Angelina Grün suffered a protracted injury, the duo separated in August 2011.

In September 2011 Angelina Grün celebrated her comeback in the German national team after a three and a half year break in two test matches against Turkey , moved to TSV Alemannia Aachen and finally won the silver medal with the national team at the European Championship in October 2011 , at which she was also the best Acceptance player of the tournament was awarded. She then played successfully with the national team at the World Cup in Japan. In Aachen she was honored several times as the most valuable player. In December 2011 Angelina Grün moved from Alemannia to VK Dynamo Moscow , where she won the Russian Cup (against Kazan) that same month. In 2012 she moved to Azerbaijan to Rabita Baku , with whom she won the national championship in 2013. After her baby break from professional sport, Angelina Hübner played from 2014 to 2016 for the German second / third division club SG Marmagen - Nettersheim .

Private

Angelina Grün has been married to her long-term partner Stefan Hübner since 2012 . In 2014 their son Jakob was born.
